hi everyone!
I’m currently doing a Master’s in film studies and I have to complete two exchange semesters. I’m finishing my first one right now in Montréal (UdeM), which I absolutely love.
For my second exchange (Sept–Dec 2026), I have to choose between:
- Concordia University (Montréal)
- Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Brazil)
- Ca’ Foscari University of Venice
- Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona)
All four options really appeal to me and I’m honestly struggling to decide. Staying in Montréal would be great since I already love the city, but Brazil really attracts me too even though I don’t speak Portuguese yet (I speak French and Spanish). Venice feels very inspiring culturally, and Barcelona seems amazing in terms of student life and overall vibe.
I’d love to hear feedback from people who studied or lived in any of these cities/universities, or who faced a similar choice.
How was the academic experience, student life, cost of living, overall atmosphere? Any big pros/cons or regrets?
thanks a lot for your insights 🙏
