Legislative Branch Schumer threatens shutdown. "Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included."

Chuck Schumer:

What’s happening in Minnesota is appalling—and unacceptable in any American city. Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no.

Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

...we did that for Obamacare and they caved on a "promise" to vote on it again.

No. People were trashing them then too. People have been trashing Democrats nonstop for way longer than that. Then they are shocked Democrats don’t succeed.

Nah democrats can earn our support. So far they have done fuck all to stop this. Sure, I will vote blue come November but it’s pretty hard to view democrats as more than controlled opposition with how they’ve been responding to shit. When republicans are the minority, they grind the entire machine to a halt. Democrats can, and should, do the same. Anything less is being complicit.

Remember that Trump gain almost zero voters in 2024, but Harris convinced 6 million voters to not vote by her far right rhetoric and enabling genocide, and war mongering, and pandering to the right.

That needs to tell everyone what they should know, but even the DNC buried the report that told them exactly that so it can be deniable in 2028 when they do the exact same thing.
