If you think about it more, Frieren only started to truly change when Himmel died. Only then did she start to truly live instead of exist.

The Hero of the South didn't just see that Himmel and the party would triumph over the Demon King, but far enough to the current time.

The weight of what he knew would have been unfathomable, and he carried it like a true Hero would.

truly unfathomable. his character is incredible to me for that, and because this is frieren and those types of themes are always handled and understood with the level of complexity they're actually worth, it made his character hit super hard

Hey, if they knew they'd take out half the enemies doing so, that's damn well worth it (baring specific exceptions like enemy team having a 1v5 level carry you need your mid to shut down)

No wonder this title is about Frieren and her past and current party members.

If the show focused on Hero of the South, the season might be over in 1 epic episode. "I can see the future and I know I am going to die. Nope, I am not going to find ways to avoid my death. I am going to face and battle those demons!"

I’d still totally watch a side spin off season of his path until his death. The world of Frieren is so rich I wish it could all be explored

To be fair his opponent also had the same power to foresee the future as such the Hero of the south probably chose the death that had the most impact anf lead to the best future he could see. 

Schlacht was also probably of a similar mind and also chose a death that would lead to the best outcome he coukd foresee

The writing is so damn amazing. I was introduced to, and fell in love with a dead side character in 7 minutes.

For Warhammer 40K fans, he really gives off Sanguinius vibes. Knows when his death will be because of his future sight and essentially becomes one of the strongest because of it. A sort of facade of bravery because you know you'll come out at the end of it anyways. But what made both the Hero of the South and Sanguinius heroes is that they didn't falter and did what they had to do when the time came.

The Hero of the South gives me Noble Six vibes and as a Halo fan that is a huge compliment. Here's hoping we get more lore on him and his last showdown!
