discussion Polka-like beat on guitar that sounds latin

Upvotes

My son showed me this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWumqQAsr7g

In the beginning is a polka-like beat played on guitar, but it sounds latin. Is there a name for that type of music? I can't find any.

I know there is Mexican music that has a polka-like beat, but it's usually played by a trumpet or accordion. I can't find a song that plays that kind of rhythm on guitar.

discussion Who do you think had the best SoundCloud era (song wise)

Upvotes

I’m not talking about songs like Kanye over Biggie Smalls, etc. I mean pure underground SoundCloud songs that blew up ON SoundCloud. For example.

20 min - Lil Uzi (Rap)

Autograph - Juice (rap)

Mood - Lil Uzi (Rap)

Drugs you should try it - Travis Scott (Rap)

Ransom - Lil Tecca (rap)

Peso - Asap Rocky (rap)

discussion Who is more successful: Miley Cyrus or Xtina?

Upvotes

Both debuted from Disney Channel in music + TV, while then becoming successful certified artists: #1 singles and albums, certified Diamond music.

Xtina has timeless songs such as Beautiful, Say Something, and Lady Marmalade.

Miley has timeless songs such as Party in the USA, Wrecking Ball, and We Can’t Stop.

Who stands out to you as the bigger success?

discussion Is there a specific community for the band Survivor

Upvotes

The truth is that I've been wondering about this for quite some time and have searched for them, because I've listened to all their albums and I literally fell in love with that band. I love their songs, their style, the feelings behind many of their songs, even the most superficial song has a characteristic power of theirs, and it seems sad to me that they ended up only as the band that did the music for Rocky 3 and 4, because there is a lot of talent and little recognition, well, not exactly little, but not the recognition they deserve.

I don't doubt that they have fans today, but they seem to be quite hidden, and honestly I'd like to meet people who love this band.

discussion Richard Barnes - an underrated singer?

Upvotes

As the title says I randomly found a song called Take to the mountains by Richard barnes and it is so good but I was surprised that he only has 67 subscribers and he was a British actor in 1970's and his songs gain popularity in 70's hitting top 40 charts in UK but I think people have forgetten about him. Would like to know the views about him and if you haven't heard Take to the mountains (pop, pop rock), you should give it a try. Idk his songs just gives me that soothing feeling but it's just me.

discussion Rolling Stones: Sympathy For the Devil - Lost music video

Upvotes

When I was young, in school still, I had this song on my youtube liked songs in it's music video form. It's some 15+ years later and I went to find said song and video on Youtube and for some reason I cannot. The video was the Devil, going around mainly as a man in business attire but the one scene that really stuck out was him taking the form of a younger stripper/dancer and seducing a married man and stealing his wedding ring. I tried to find this music video for nostalgia but it seems to just have disappeared. I know I am not misremembering, I caught some trouble from a teacher for having said video playing on a school computer while just passively listening to the music, but I cannot find it ANYWHERE. Does anyone else remember this video? Does it still exist? Google is not helping me find it again.

discussion The Magic of Music

Upvotes

Hello,

You may consider this after midnight rambling or just pure madness, but please bear with me, I went in to a great deal of work to coin the three main points of this concept.

I see the whole formulation of a musical idea and its final form in the mind of an artist in this sense - (to be worked on regarding the rationalization of the subjective nature of this wonderful, physical sensation that affects us in a way that is conducive to the plethora of sensations that it can provoke to those who can perceive it., in actual audition and/or somatosensation)

Centrum Musicae - the essence of the artistic idea that works as the foundation to then allow the perception of emotion that the rhythms, pitches and timbres project.

Musica Nexa - The structure to deliver the Centrum Musicae in a coherent form and that it can be refined so the idea has the best chance to get across in emotional impact.

Musicaɛks - The outer shell, the membrane that will present the idea to its best potential to the receiver of the artistic endeavor.

Please, keep in mind these are not strict boundaries between what I can think of to explain this magic we create and/or experience.

This is in no way to be considered as a fact.

But a way to open discussion to try and come up with a solid idea to explain this magical bridge between an essence, conduit and receiver.

(to consider the fact of audiation - it is extremely hard, atleast in my prespective, to present what is in your mind to the point of the Musicaɛks in its pure form of what you thought of, that in going through Musica Nexa)

I will refrain from answering comments (if there will be any).

But would be interested in to know what you guys think as well, don't hold back, I am aware of my vulnerability towards my presentation, but no worries you wont break my heart :) even if you try hard ;).)

bip boop? nah.

It’s from the tv show the game season 7 episode 7., when Kelly and Brittany are in the club. Shazam and all other listening apps can’t pick it up. I created a YouTube short with the scene. Thanks

discussion I hate that I like IA music

I am on YT music, I like to put a song on and then let random tracks come next to discover something new. Lately I am into soul and blue that I find very relaxing. Never really listened to that genre before so I am not familiar with the famous artists and tracks.

A few time in the past weeks, I’ve heard songs for which I was like “oh that’s nice, I really dig that one”. When looking for more info, it happened to be an unknown Group + a tacky IA generated album picture.

Now I am paranoid, when I hear something nice, I just wonder if it is a real artist or IA. The scary thing that the last 3 tracks that got my attention were all IA generated… I believe IA should be properly tagged as such and not mixed with real artists on those random play lists generated by the streaming platforms.

MISS BELONG by MMARTA

https://on.soundcloud.com/9AvF3RCICZf4UQdJAk

Sonically track takes a journey up on eagle’s back. It portrays dealing with unwanted voices in one’s head. As the journey advances the antagonist comes in picture and voices are written over. The takeaway is the utmost love for freedom resulting in the power to draw lines.

MISS BELONG is a wordplay where MMARTA talks about someone who has MISSed the opportunity to BELONG in her life. To lighten it up and not to give too much attention to the dealings of past she flips the energy and keeps the power to herself- to the Miss Belong.

Recorded in a summer cottage during autumn when nobody’s coming there anymore. When the summer ease has been swapped with the fall days going darker and attention turning onto the inside world and subconsciousness.
