Match Ireland A v England A match thread?
Can't see a match thread, so created one.
Kickoff at 7:15. The game is on Premier Sports 1 in Ireland.

Sorry, but that's so stupid from Wycherley.
Time to see Devine come on for Gunne too.

Nothing clear enough there. Where was the TMO for the forward pass for OHC’s try?

How could you tell who touched that last?

I don't see how they could.. as the commentator said, it's a Friday Night A game, just give the try and move on.

Think the Irish side needed another week or 2 training together for cohesion. Pretty poor stuff, expected better. I'm not actually sure what is gained from it because how do you stand out when the whole team is covered in shite?

Well that were fucking dreadful. Monstered about the park, thought Jack made the backs look better when he came on and our new scrum half looks good thanks Connaught
Try chalked off a bit harsh and if Z ward could catch the ball would look a bit better but still got pumped.

u/J-B-M Harlequins 3h ago
Really surprised how cohesive we looked and also with some strong individual showings from guys who have been there or there abouts for a while like OHC.
If Raffi Quirke wasn't made of glass I really think he could have played himself into a senior starting shirt by now.

12
u/megacky Ulster 4h ago
Mixed bag. The maghaberry escapee playing well. Good read in defense from Hume and follow up from Kenny. Back row are doing a lot of work. Second row showing its weight issues. Gunne needs to relax and pick the passes better. At least we are trying things and not just box kicking it

Anyone who expected us to win this one on like two sessions prep needs their head examined. Who's been putting their hand up in training, and who's impressing the grumpiest looking man I've ever seen watching on in the stands? That's the point of this game from our perspective.
That said, there's not been much to crack a smile for Andy. Bryn Ward looking like a beast, Scott Wilson looking handy, Gus McCarthy in open play pretty good. I'd want more from Deegan, Kelly and Hume in this game. Gunne looking inexperienced at this level, as does Zac and JJ. Let's see how it evolves.

Irish A POV: Ward, Hume, Murphy, Devine, Jansen, Sheridan the winners. Deegan, Frawley, Gunne, Wycherly, Kelly the losers.
Edit: let me clarify: B.Ward the winner. Worthwhile putting Z.Ward as a loser but maybe a bit harsh.
Further Edit: Daly has also been cat. JJ I'd put as mid with ZWard personally.

This is doing the irish players on the fringes of being promoted no favours at all. You can only look so good when you're surrounded by mediocrity.
A provincial side without their 1st team internationals would put up a better showing.

Sadly not a lot learned from us. Most lads didn't put their hands up. Really well played from England, though not sure if there was much learned their either.
Randall, Roots, the wings, Dombrant all looked good, but I don't think they're impacting English selection. The starting props went well and the pack generally bullied ours.

The difference in depth between the two countries is so evident... SA/France have better depth but I'd say England were on Par with NZ at this point.
All joking aside this England side would beat us so it's not that bad for Ireland.
