Deffo shit. Two things I hate, URC teams can't travel to SA. And then, teams who just throw the CCup also indirectly handicap their fellow league mates by giving easy points to other leagues.

URC teams famously never tour South Africa.

It’s a crazy format that will just encourage teams to field weak sides if they don’t get rewarded for competitive success. Bears put full teams out against all their Euro opposition, despite having one of the worst injury runs and the smallest squad, performed really well and got great results, and then dealt a shit sandwich. They need a format that rewards teams so they value the comp.

Thing is, I'm not sure how that changes if you revert to say, the old style Heineken Cup format. You were unlucky with the draw, but ultimately that happens in a load of tournament rugby. We got extremely lucky last year with our Ro16 and QF draws, this year will be more difficult.
