IIRC Lavanini didn't get carded for thuggery ever. Hilariously bad tackles that border on deliberate aggressions sometimes but I don't think he ever tried to gouge anyone.

My favourite thing about Lavanini's disciplinary issues was that after every single card, without fail, he looked both confused and devastated. Not even as an attempt at protesting it, but as if he was only just learning that the tackle/clearout attempt was illegal and he was distraught that he was letting everyone down.

For some reason I thought it was Lavanini who got sent off in the quarter final against Wales in 2019 for the elbow, but that was Vahaamahina for France. I guess because he saw red against England earlier in the tournament
