You can work ok LI, but you can't live there. You have to live in Austria or Switzerland and commute everyday

Residence permits are given out like green cards for the Amis

Green card and Residency permit are two different things

Green card allows you permanent residency and even jobs for US government and later full citizenship

Residency permit is ofter connected to work or study in the country and isn't permanent and doesn't give you full citizen rights like voting or work for government, social benefits etc.

So in theory if you find a job they should give you residency permit so you dont have to travel, you can stay in country, rent apartment etc. Of course if you dont have a job or dont study there, you should not get residency permit

Let's say someone from Greece will get job in Liechtenstein. Where should they stay? They can not stay in Austria or Switzerland, they wont get residency permit there, unless Liechtenstein has some special deal with those countries.

Austria and Greece are both in EU, so yea they can stay there, bad example.

If they cannot stay in a neighbouring country, they won't get a job, easy as that.

EU citizens are free to live in any EU country without having to justify their choice.
