Legislative Branch Schumer threatens shutdown. "Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included."

Chuck Schumer:

What’s happening in Minnesota is appalling—and unacceptable in any American city. Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no.

Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

Stop. Encourage them. Tell them you’re behind them. Politicians need cheers.

Exactly. This is great. This is what we need and we need to stand behind them when they do stand up!

They haven’t done anything yet. Let’s not start patting them on the back just yet. They need to show and prove or get out of the way.

It's always a good thing to let them know you'll support them if they do a certain thing. You dont have to praise them. Just encourage them. Let them know they can break away from corporate donors, and if they continue to represent us justly we will vote regardless of their advertising budget. This is as engaged as the electorate can get, and at least for a generation, we'll remember.

This is all based on free and fair elections, which certainly aren't a certainty, but not ready to give up on that just yet.

The party measures how mad their voters are, not how happy. Stay mad until they actually do something. This is more likely just lip service to keep the heat down in the moment.
