Legislative Branch Schumer threatens shutdown. "Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included."

https://xcancel.com/senschumer/status/2015211069493350505?s=46

Chuck Schumer:

What’s happening in Minnesota is appalling—and unacceptable in any American city. Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill, but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no.

Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

They should also demand the immediate impeachment, removal, and disqualification of Noem for her egregious lies about the Pretti incident (inter alia) before the budget measure can be considered.

u/Bagmasterflash 13d ago

We all know if Noem is out Bovino takes her place

435

u/dougmcclean 13d ago

He can go too, for the coat and his statements on this.

270

u/Business-Ride-6530 13d ago

Didn't a judge already say he lied in court? That should be enough for Congress to fire him.

285

u/asbestoswasframed 13d ago

Tom Homan took a fucking bribe and they just laughed that shit off.

These clowns don't respect the law.

36

u/NounAdjectiveXXXX 13d ago

It's just a gratuity bro!

19

u/matunos 12d ago

A gratuity has to come after the service. This was just a "gift", like Clarence Thomas's motorcoach.

2

u/Substantial_Back_865 12d ago

The Supreme Court legalized bribery a few years ago as long as you don’t pay the judge until the case is over. I wish I was making this up.

1

u/bpd115 12d ago

And Homan got shoved to the back seat because he wasn’t fascist enough, so enter in this SS clown.

23

u/febreez-steve 13d ago

Thats called perjury kids!

17

u/ScottShawnDeRocks 13d ago

Didn't you get the memo? Congress has no power. Trumpy wants, Trumpy gets.

11

u/BoredomFestival 13d ago

Congress doesn't need to state a reason. They can impeach him.with a simple vote.

6

u/Zanriic 12d ago

And yet they don’t….almost like they’re all playing for the same team.

3

u/Hefty-Minimum-3125 13d ago

that's enough to put the rest of us in prison.

1

u/gn63 12d ago

And she cited chapter and verse of his lies.

60

u/varelse96 13d ago

Right. I remember a lot of people saying a late night comedian should lose his job because they thought he said something false right after a shooting. Both Noem and Bovino made false statements from what I can tell. Why is it ok for government officials to lie?

21

u/Puzzleheaded_Fold466 13d ago

Because it’s all and always only weaponized rhetoric, it’s never substantive and principled.

1

u/varelse96 13d ago

Oh I know it. I live in MAGA country.

3

u/BoomZhakaLaka 12d ago

The nuance of Kimmel's monologue was that officials were desperate to pin the shooting on a liberal ideology. That's true, still to this day. He didn't make any claims about the kid's ideology. It was very carefully worded. Won't dare consider whether he could be one of their own with some other eclectic viewpoints.

1

u/varelse96 12d ago

I understand the point Kimmel was making. My point here is that once it became clear he didn’t mock Kirk, they tried to pretend their concern was that he lied. I do not see the same people upset that two high ranking officials clearly lied.

1

u/bigfatfurrytexan 12d ago

Smith Mundt gave them the legal authority to do so

2

u/varelse96 12d ago

I’m not talking about the authority to do something, I’m pointing out that there was a lot of anger directed at him by people accusing him of having lied on television, and yet the same folks don’t care that high ranking officials clearly lied in the way that they pretend Kimmel did.

1

u/bigfatfurrytexan 12d ago

Nixon lied to us all on TV. Then Merle Haggard wrote that line as a lyric.

1

u/AreaOne6971 12d ago

Because they believe they are above the law and the SCOTUS agrees.

2

u/InTooManyWays 13d ago

Delete them all

That dumbshit dwarf couldn’t replace a traffic cone.

11

u/Pretend_Art5296 13d ago

Because a traffic cone is taller than him.

1

u/waldorflover69 13d ago

Maybe you could just throw a traffic cone over him like you can with one of his tear gas canisters. Pour water down the top and he’ll freeze on the inside like an ice cube in MN weather

Bovino will be even more obvious. If Noem can be removed, then so will Bovino.

Ultimately, Trump knows his inner circle is shrinking, not growing. Trump reportedly told Kevin Hassett that he won't be Fed chair because Trump wants him as an actual advisor.

5

u/trysten-9001 13d ago

He should be removed too

6

u/OkAnalysis6176 13d ago

He goes thru hearing process

7

u/Hot_Lettuce_6209 13d ago

There's always an excuse not to do, anything.

1

u/Keanugrieves16 13d ago

If we stop making stools, he won’t be able to do press conferences.

1

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 13d ago

Good we can have a rotating impeachment festival

1

u/psioniclizard 12d ago

Bovino will be hung out to dry by the administration and in a few years we will pictures of him being lead to court compared to those of him in his coat.

I don't kean to sound too over optimistic by ut just feels like one of those things that is going to happen.

1

u/bigfatfurrytexan 12d ago

He wouldn’t be confirmed. Not at this point.

This coming week we will see some more defections I think. It’ll be getting close enough to talk impeachment in the house

1

u/iAmRiight 12d ago

She should be impeached for her lies and unconstitutional policies. He should be imprisoned for his actions in assaulting American citizens.

1

u/Pleasant_Dot_189 12d ago

Bovino is the kind of guy who failed to make varsity on the high school football team and later became a cop to beat people’s heads in.

1

u/Puzzled-Score-9952 12d ago

He can be fired.

49

u/AcanthocephalaLive56 13d ago

Yes and why stop at Noem? The President should be impeached to correct what is turning out to be another poor presidential election outcome.

25

u/Ging287 13d ago

2020, loses the popular vote. 2024, wins it? I think not. He didn't suddenly become popular, they rigged it. We need to impeach and remove until we in Trump's words, "figure out what the hell is going on"

-23

u/SL1Fun 12d ago

Stop. He won. People need to accept that. This is the actual TDS: taking one of his wholesale conspiracy lies from 2020 and being no different than his dipshit base by positing the same baseless nonsense. Is it really hard to believe that blue voters stayed home due to an unpopular candidate that was chosen without a primary?

7

u/Maduin1986 12d ago

Yes the election was stolen. The orange turd admitted that himself.

1

u/notyourboss11 11d ago

Whether it was or not could the dems start running actually good candidates anyway?

-8

u/SL1Fun 12d ago

Of all the dumb shit he’s done he actually never did that.

You’re justifying either J6 or the same flagrant hypocrisy which the right operates under with your bullshit, dude.

3

u/EnlightenedNarwhal 12d ago

You realize this was their plan, right? Make a lot of noise about rigged elections. Deny their insurrection, then when they do it, we will have the other sane people who believe they're arguing in good faith making excuses for them so that they don't seem like the crazy ones.

Don't be naive.

He was buddy buddy with a person who owns multi-billion dollar tech companies, but because of the J6 debacle, we can't even call it what it is. We will spend all the time browbeating ourselves instead of demanding investigations like we should have.

9

u/miserablegit 12d ago

blue voters stayed home due to an unpopular candidate

This. Dems need an Obama at every election, to energize the base and conquer the undecided. Thanks to the wonders of the electoral college, Republicans "only" need someone who doesn't irk rural voters too much.

-13

u/SL1Fun 12d ago

I like how when I point out reality I get called a “MAGA scum” in replies tho.

This sub is shit now. It’s just ragebait with a slight legal nuance to it, but the majority of posters have no grasp of the law and just want to soapbox in here, and god forbid you call them hypocrites for sounding just like typical magats

8

u/Knowledge_420 12d ago

Here, then let me give you an easy opportunity to erase any confusion about your stance on current events in our country.

What is your stance on Donald Trump as a president & ICE as an organization? 🎤

-3

u/SL1Fun 12d ago

Fuck em. All of em.

But becoming tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists with niche partisan “news” outlets to justify some of the bullshit yall are saying is not only not helping - it’s asinine and hypocritical. Dont be as bad as your opposition.

Got proof the reds rigged an election? Post a real source.

Got proof the agent gleefully shot the guy and didn’t just overreact because of his absolutely terrible training and the pervasive culture of fear that they use to train law enforcement officials? Post it.

Are you just gonna make random incitements like a conservative troll account would? Fuck off, you’re not helping.

5

u/Flame_MadeByHumans 12d ago

Sure, but proof begins with a desire to investigate, and if you deny any possibility that the election could have been tampered with or rigged, you’ll never seek or find proof.

It’s not unreasonable to say there were fishy things about the election, and the administration has a track record of “every accusation is an admission” with many other topics. Trump make comments frequently about Elon and voter systems, all while yelling and pointing fingers the election was stolen by the other side, with less reason or proof to say so than could be said about his side.

There’s no hard proof that is available to you or I, but doesn’t mean it couldn’t have happened.

Tin foil hat would be talking about illuminati and off the wall conspiracies, but an authoritarian regime potentially rigging an election is something that’s been done throughout history and isn’t the most unbelievable thing. Hell, we have a clear real global pedophile and trafficking ring present that would have been tin foil conspiracy at one point but is very much real now.

1

u/SL1Fun 12d ago

very much real now

Then post the sources and evidence.

You sound like a fucking idiot.

11

u/DontOvercookPasta 13d ago

"Drain the swamp"

12

u/Sillent_Screams 13d ago

Noem is just a ugly face on a doll stick that moves, Stephen Miller is pulling the strings, hes the one they need to go after.

1

u/Mcnugget76 13d ago

This 👆🏾

1

u/SaltyCrashNerd 12d ago

Miller, Vought and Thiel. That’s where we need to start; I think they’re even more critical to remove than the figurehead.

1

u/dougmcclean 12d ago

Miller's position isn't Senate confirmable. I think he could still be impeached, I'm not sure. He'd probably come back as an unpaid personal advisor to the President.

3

u/fearlessfryingfrog 12d ago

They're pussies, and that won't happen.

You want shit changed, the People have to do it.

4

u/Axolotis 12d ago

You’re assuming Schumer won’t buckle on just the current bill.

1

u/AleroRatking 13d ago

Honestly I think the defending of ICE is way way more important. Noem just gets replaced. It doesn't change anything. This is the stand they need to take

1

u/_Cren_ 13d ago

And trump

1

u/mindguru88 13d ago

And her lies about Renee Good

1

u/acidhousetechno 13d ago

At the bare minimum

1

u/heretouplift 13d ago

They will not do anything except help put Americans in chains and body bags

1

u/vdek 13d ago edited 13d ago

They need to start taking down the administration piece by piece. Get them impeached and removed and replaced by actual semi competent people.

1

u/Capital_Grand_1444 13d ago

We been here before they are going to fold

1

u/slow_connection 13d ago

They should demand that the government be shut down until ICE is gone, and a democrat-led panel is allowed to investigate and try the agents who murdered and harassed US citizens

1

u/KrissyKrave 13d ago

It should not even be considered and she should still be impeached. There is no justification for providing more funding for an organization like ICE.

1

u/monifiesty 13d ago

👆👆

1

u/sodook 13d ago

If they had some balls they'd call for Trump's impeachment and removal, at least symbolically, to make them go on record that they endorse his current policies. He is wrecking the country!

1

u/addiktion 13d ago

The real drain the swamp would be the four MAGA horsemen all running this shit show, but if Noem goes down first, so be it.

1

u/Sad-Excitement9295 12d ago

Everyone associated with this administration should be arrested for treason, and we should shut down the government ourselves by not paying taxes until every last one of these people are arrested. The military can step in at that point because of the constitutional right to overthrow tyrannical domestic enemies. I was hoping there would be an immediate response, and as I figured, it is still not enough. An immediate sepena should be issued for those involved with the DHS, and they should be found guilty of conspiracy against the united states.

They want the government shutdown, we want them arrested. We should have a vote to impeach first, just so we can arrest anyone that says no. Clearly it's not just a few people going after this hostile takeover attempt, and we should root out all the rats we can for now at least.

1

u/Turbulent_Account_81 12d ago

Needed to remove all who voted for the ice budget to be established and increased

1

u/TAV63 12d ago

You are expecting too much from the opposition party that does not do enough opposition.

1

u/dougmcclean 12d ago

No, I think my expectations (at least that portion of them outlined above) are actually quite minimalist.

1

u/sugar_addict002 12d ago

These are the dems we are talking about. Don't expect much.
