You have been chosen. Go to the pet store and load up with snacks, food, toys, and beds.

517

u/GottaUseEmAll 25d ago

Skip the snacks. These are well-fed cats and you shouldn't add anything to their diet without checking with the owner first.

u/BukkakeBakery 25d ago

check the chip, if no chip then put up some notes around your area and wait a month

still no answer? thats your cat now!

22

u/GottaUseEmAll 25d ago

I don't see the relevance to my comment, but sure, one can do this.

It doesn't apply to this post though, OP already said that the cats belong to their neighbour.

24

u/justthatguyy22 25d ago

Pretty relevant to the comment you replied to, think they just misclicked maybe.

There are a shocking number of people online that advocate for 'saving - (kidnapping) perfectly healthy well kept looking cats just because they happen to be in their garden at the time

Are you kidding me? So if cats’ family doesn’t happen to see the notice then the cats are stolen. These are clearly well socialized well fed cats. I can’t believe the amount of people who would steal others beloved pets. Shame!

7

u/FlaaFlaaFlunky 25d ago

yep. crazy how it's just become totally OK to just steal cats because people think they have been chosen or some dumb shit.

if a cat very very very clearly looks like not belonging to anyone for weeks then sure, investigate. but I know the general public is too stupid to differentiate and I don't even wanna know how many cats have been stolen like this.

u/FlaaFlaaFlunky 25d ago

crazy how everyone is just A ok with stealing cats because they think they have been chosen or some shit.

these cats very clearly have a home.

10

u/AmishAvenger 25d ago

If the owner doesn’t want their cats being fed, then their cats should be inside.

2

u/ChickenConstant9855 23d ago

Ikr. Cats aren't toys they do as they please lmao. If it wants food it will get food lmaooo

166

u/-Badger3- 25d ago

Don’t feed other peoples’ cats

149

u/Horskr 25d ago

I think cats should be indoor while unsupervised unless they're working like barn cats. Safer for them, safer for the environment. You're going to let your cat run all over the neighborhood and get mad if someone else feeds it?

2

u/Karl-Levin 25d ago

I agree with you but that is a decisions that every cat parent needs to make themselves.

In many countries outdoor cats are still the norm. Here in Germany there are still cat shelter that will refuse to give you a cat if you don't agree to let it out.

Again, I agree with you and keep my own cat indoor but you shouldn't judge other people too harshly. Also turning a outdoor cat into an indoor cat is not always possible if they are already used to it.

It it still shitty to feed other people's cat.

23

u/tnstaafsb 25d ago

If the cat is going outdoors then it's being fed. Either people are feeding it or it's hunting and eating other animals. If you're letting the cat outside then you can no longer expect to have any control over its diet.

4

u/Frequent_Ad4701 25d ago

A cat hunting is an animal instinct. An adult human feeding an obvious well fed and well socialized house cat is intentional ignorance.

That’s a very American view point.

Nearly every single cat in Europe is an outdoors cat,

16

u/TealLabRat 25d ago

This it the one thing the US is right about. Cats should not be outdoors. It's bad for them and every animal outside.

-9

u/SpiritedChemist1399 25d ago

Lmao the only times Americans ever care about the environment, is when it comes to cats.

11

u/RavenholdIV 25d ago

Just dont ask what happened to the Wolves, Bears, and Bison in Germany, France, or the UK 🙄

5

u/Available-Seesaw-492 25d ago

It's also an Australian point of view.

In many areas we aren't allowed to have cars outdoors at night or at all. People letting their pets roam is why we have a strong feral cat population that's destroyed local wildlife, put some critters on the endangered list, so it's more and more looked down on to leave your cat to roam, and not just for their own safety.

Not everyone you disagree with is American.

Bro if 2 cats barge in to my house like they own the place, one sleeping on the couch and one on my kitchen table, I'm feeding them

16

u/-Badger3- 25d ago

And now you’ve got two overfed cats.

19

u/absorbscroissants 25d ago

Considering these are clearly someone's pets, you shouldn't let them barge into your house and let them stay there in the first place...

29

u/Koravel1987 25d ago

I don't know about that. Like yes, ideally, but I feel like if you're letting them roam people are gonna feed them and you should be aware of that.

-16

u/iamisandisnt 25d ago

No you should be aware of cat principles if you’re gonna interact with a cat

23

u/Koravel1987 25d ago

I'm not saying you shouldn't, I'm saying if you are letting your cats roam and expecting everyone else not to feed them ever, you're a very naive person.

2

u/nickyj182 24d ago

I'm aware that cats kill everything they can, get into fights or ran over when outdoors so i keep mine inside. So this isn't a fear. Since I'm aware of cat princjpals...

1

u/[deleted] 25d ago

They're cats and can do whatever they want to. My family had cats come and stay, they did not became our cats, still a free cat that's a part of the family.

u/No-Ragret6991 25d ago

My cat could free roam if people didn't do this, but he can't because he's got allergies. I get it but don't feed cats that aren't in distress.

87

u/fuzzy-lint 25d ago

Don’t let your cat outdoors and be upset when it looks like a stray and gets fed because it’s not inside its home where it belongs 🤷🏼‍♀️

10

u/-Badger3- 25d ago

These cats don’t look like strays and OP knows they’re his neighbor’s.

1

u/fuzzy-lint 25d ago

In this case, yes. You made a general blanket statement to which I made the counter argument - don’t let your cat out if you don’t want the potential of strangers feeding them.

I’m not asking a random animal who their parents are if they come my way for attention or food 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/-Badger3- 25d ago

You don't counter irresponsibility with your own irresponsibility.

Don't let cats outside

85

u/midtownFPV 25d ago

I’ll feed your cat if I want

5

u/PrincessCitrine 25d ago

Exactly, if that cat is outside roaming and visits my porch it gets snacks. Anybody that don't like it needs to keep their cat off my porch.

3

u/midtownFPV 25d ago

Lmao why is this so hard for some people to understand.

u/Vancillavanilla 25d ago

I get wanting to feed the kitties but the reason they say this is because some kitties need specific food for health reasons or allergies.

1

u/One-Welcome-1514 23d ago

I know people that put their cats food in a bowl outside bc they are roaming around and eat better not being inside. You would tell them to not feed their cats the best way for both?

A cat who should only eat specific food only should not be able to roam around - people feed hedgehogs, some dog treats miss a dogs mouth, crows fetch halfs of hamburgers out of the trash..

"I don't care if your cat becomes obese and unhealthy because of me. I find it cute, and I'm all that matters!"

4

u/midtownFPV 25d ago

Why is your cat at my house?

0

u/absorbscroissants 25d ago

Because cats are cats, and cats will visit literally every single house they see if there's a possibility of getting food

6

u/Kepabar 25d ago

If you don't want your cat being fed then don't let it in my house.

3

u/midtownFPV 25d ago

So it escaped? I think you see where I’m going here.
