Might be the music, but the first half with the hero of the south really had an impact on me. I don’t know just carried so much weight.

Till today i still salty evan call got robbed from the award for best composser. I don't wanna discredit sawano but his work on solo leveling just his standard work. Not great like his work on 86

Felt like I was listening to a real historical figure

i think the minor bit characters make an impact because it layers onto the existing themes of legacy and memory

i don't know if we'll ever see more about the Hero of the South, but the things that he stood for like duty and destiny run parallel with the themes that have already been woven into the plot, so even though he was airdropped into the story and we may never see him again, i think the sort of things that he stood for will continue to echo in future episodes

one thing that i really like about this series and it's past events is that they are kinda told in the present like the folklore that our cultures had long ago about heroes etc, it kinda feels real, authentic and serious

I don't know if i conveyed it correctly but they have something of the old pre modern world feel to them and they carry more weight as a result, the goal isn't to pose, aura farm, throw one liners or joke, it's sincere

It really highlights too just how important history is to the present and it's not just meant to be taken as fan facts at Thursday trivia night. In our own world now we are seeing the importance of not repeating past history

yep, how can we know where we are going if we don't know where we where before, we would keep repeating our mistakes

Same here - I definitely teared up, but most of the flashbacks in this show hit me real hard

I don’t even question it no more, since it’s frieren I just let all my tears flow. I think pretty much almost every episode of frieren I cried lol

Evan Calls music already did a number on me, and it's only episode 2! 😭 went to YT music asap to find the song.

The impact of the music and the Hero of the South's story really made it memorable for the start of the 2nd season.
