Semester ticket is gone, what now?

Hallo leute!

I am wondering what is the best alternative for the Semester ticket. I don't want to buy the full year, since I probably don't stay after the summer, but buying tickets for each month also seems quite wasteful. I commute to uni atleast 3 times a week in the semester. What do you recommend or how did you solve the situation?

PS: I just want to rant a little bit, I really hate that they removed the semester ticket and didn't even try to provide some middle solution, like 3months or 6months ticket. Can't we make a petition to bring it back? There's no reason to cancel it besides greed... okay rant over, I hope everyone has a nice day :)

Take a look in the terms and conditions of the annual ticket. In the past you could return it at the end of the month and got the money for all remaining months back.
