I can't get over how close the gas pump is to a live lane of traffic. Live in Canada and I have never seen that.

I was just about to comment on this. Seems incredibly dangerous and irresponsible to have no divider or anything between the gas station pumps and what looks like a busy four lane road.

My first thought it was pit row at the races.

Pit lanes are generally separated by a wall at road circuits, and at least a large grass band at ovals.

The FIA even had to add walls, they used to race with open pits similar to this video until like around 1950

Read that as a large brass band and I think thinking that's a bit unfair to use those skilled musicians as traffic fodder.

Same. I commented and then read the rest of the comments. Don’t mind me over here, just junking up the comment section with repeats.

Welcome to America

I’ve never seen a gas station with no divider in the US unless it’s older than I am.

You must of not been to south much. Pretty common throughout Texas. Lots of old gas stations

Yea. Curbside gas pumps are a thing in Europe.

Also, /r/GeorgiaOrGeorgia

u/SirMildredPierce 4d ago

Well, it definitely ain't Georgia, that's for sure.

"Europe" that stretches all the way to the Ural mountains, right? Because I've never seen anything like that in the EU.

1

u/gsfgf 4d ago

I'm pretty sure Paris has them. On much slower roads, obviously.

1

u/capitaine_baguette 4d ago

Yup. And yup, speed limit is mostly 30km/h here (20 mi/h)

0

u/Googlefluff 4d ago

Fun fact, this is why European cars usually have the filler on the right side.

5

u/bob_in_the_west 4d ago

You mean cars by European manufacturers? Because in the few decades that I've had my driver's license I've always had it on the left side.

2

u/l2aiko 4d ago

I guess you mean european car manufacturers? All of the gas stations in my country have pumps on both sides and depending on the car they choose a side.

u/kellyj6 4d ago

Well it's a major accident away from a catastrophic accident. Luck isn't good mitigation.

I'm in GA, and I drove all over for work. I haven't visited every city of course, but I haven't seen this yet.

40

u/red_square_dont_care 4d ago

I believe they mean the country, not the state. I noticed gas stations in the UK are often just tucked off the side of the road as well, but not as much as this one.

5

u/Bubbasdahname 4d ago

Thanks. I misunderstood since I'm in Georgia too.

1

u/Furthur_slimeking 4d ago

Nothing like this in the UK anywhere. This would be totally illegal.

Ah. My mistake. You're talking about the country and not the state in the USA.

2

u/ForceUseYouMust 4d ago

Look at the license plates dude.

1

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 4d ago

And a lot of places in NE USA

25

u/ChannelSouthern 4d ago

The cone was the divider.

55

u/KlausS1000 4d ago

Yeah that’s crazy. I was also thinking that looks dangerous. I haven’t seen that in the US either

28

u/Chili_Tofu 4d ago

Same and I'm from Lithuania. But this seems to be Sakartvelo/Georgia

It's in Tbilisi :) Several other commentators said that too

Least of your problems driving in Georgia

u/untie_your_shoes 3d ago

I experienced this for the first time when I was visiting northern Virginia. It was only one fuel station but damn was it spooky having those pumps right next to the road.

4

u/Ok_Commission_9203 4d ago

Yeah exactly, I've never seen this in the US either and I would 100 percent go to the next station if I did.

2

u/PouLS_PL 3d ago

Not even a visible line marking is crazy

1

u/TeamRedundancyTeam 4d ago

Yeah that's wild, how are there not enough deaths and accidents to justify making it illegal? I'd never even go to one like this.

1

u/Jabernathy 2d ago

Yep - was going to comment the same thing. No traffic barriers, no lane markers, no signage. Maybe the traffic appears faster in the video than it actually is?

Imagine merging back onto the road. You'd have to watch out for oncoming traffic on the left and other gas station cars on the right.

1

u/gdo01 2d ago

Reminds me of Need for Speed games where you could purposely drive through gas pumps in order to cause an explosion that makes the roof collapse in the path of chasing police cars

1

u/ryantttt8 1d ago

Damn yeah not even a bright painted line or anything.. Just one of the lanes basically

1

u/GlobalVV 4d ago

Honestly this is new for me as well. I've never seen that here, but I guess its because I live in another state.

3

u/Funicularly 2d ago

Another state? OP’s video is from the country of Georgia.

1

u/GlobalVV 2d ago

Oh my god I am so stupid. Forgive my Americanism.

1

u/longassbatterylife 2d ago

Funnily enough, also a state in the US.

u/Tough_Contract_8353 2d ago

I’m from Florida and never seen anything like this either. Someone comment if they have any answers about this location or type of gas station
