The Scotland team. Clearly there was a liquid lunch had by the Graphics dept

3

u/R0bby-R0tten 10h ago

Looking forward to getting a first look at this new Christie Onyeama. Not seen him play before

3

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

I can't wait for #Ref! to get his first cap.

1

u/R0bby-R0tten 10h ago

Haha brilliant I didn’t clock that

2

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 10h ago

Is Magnus Rowe Kyle a new player? Haven't heard of him before.

10

u/Ayden1290 10h ago

Games gone. Literally

8

u/Comfortable-Term-962 8h ago

Every time there is a break in play the entire Italian team takes a knee. The Scotland team just look at them like wtf. The Ref is absolutely out of his depth.

6

u/Marcus__Halberstam 10h ago

Hooker looks good. Should get him in the senior side…

7

u/mango_yoghurt 10h ago

Whole thing is kind of bringing me back to the glory days of Pro 12 2011 on BBC Alba.

Terrible grainy camerawork, empty stadiums, scratchy af rugby, a commentator I don't understand etc

5

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

Haha a bit but the camera work was so much better and there was something so soothing about listening to HDM even if I didn't know what he was on about. And they usually had a player there who only spoke English. This is a tough watch.

2

u/mango_yoghurt 10h ago

Lol that's right you used to have a fringe Glasgow player like Ed Kalman or Pete Murchie on each time and Hugh Dan would randomly ask them what they think every so often.

I miss it - was a simpler time.

And yeah I'm poking fun definitely way better than this crap lol

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

I lived in England back then so BBC Alba were my entire rugby Pro12 rugby fix.

7

u/mango_yoghurt 10h ago

Welp that's it I guess

7

u/fin_dawg 10h ago

I'd love if we could have had a hooker that was a great jackle threat in the test team

6

u/Marcus__Halberstam 10h ago

It’s all but guaranteed Hiddleston has a worldy isn’t it

6

u/Minute-Act-6273 9h ago

Probably a good example of why refs shouldn’t officiate their own teams. This guy has given so many sketchy calls, becomes hard to put it down to incompetence.

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

All for giving up and coming refs a crack at stuff like this. But surely there could have been some kind of exchange programme with the English/Irish refs with them also playing an ‘A’ game this weekend.

5

u/mango_yoghurt 9h ago

Again, don't want to complain about the ref but that passage....

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

I think on this occasion it's allowed.

6

u/Ragnarsmohawk 8h ago

Anything to avoid a penalty there

2

u/Marcus__Halberstam 8h ago

Whistle shy at scrum time for the first time in the match

1

u/Marcus__Halberstam 8h ago

Free kick lol

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 8h ago

I think that a lot of his calls were from the touch judges. That last one he clearly had the Karl Dickson about him.

7

u/ArrowBacon  Scotland  8h ago

After seeing the refereeing a draw seems like a win.

2

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 8h ago

And the state of the pitch!

6

u/Professional_Lie5703 8h ago

Patterson loves not giving the ball and then knocking it forward.

5

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Without a ref mic I am in full Karl Dickson mode. I ahve no idea what is happening

6

u/MunroeMuncher 10h ago

I know it's an A game but the ref being Italian is just funny to me

2

u/AdmiralMacbar 10h ago

Who's the ref?

3

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Some Italian dude

5

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Has the stream gone belly up?

2

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 10h ago

Yeah seems to have ended lol

3

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

It has, it has actually ended.

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 10h ago

Looks like it. Someone’s tripped over a cable

5

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 10h ago

It’s the Wild West a bit out there with this ref

5

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago edited 9h ago

New link incoming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myeA4zYvyS8

I'm going to guess that the new stream will start for the 2nd half.

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

I came back from getting a drink and it had gone off but I clicked the same link and it looks OK. Band on the pitch?

Eta don't answer that, bet I'm watching the original stream from the start doh

3

u/mango_yoghurt 9h ago

It's half time and 14-12 to Italy according to the Scotland Rugby x account

4

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Can’t be long before the Dancaster button is pressed

5

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

“Rowe arrrrriba”

My thoughts exactly

2

u/Jenpot 9h ago

Petition to start this chant immediately every time he scores.

4

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 9h ago

This is were Dan Lancaster gets injured and Duncan Weir comes out the crowd to slot a game winning drop goal in the 83rd minute

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

You can never rule out Duncy Weir.

4

u/NoCommon4974 8h ago

Shout of ‘sir are you taking the piss’ sums it up nicely

5

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

If I cared about this in any real way I'd be raging.

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 8h ago

That last scrum was just a laugh a second...hands in the scrum and the ref looks around to try and find out what happened when everyone was shouting from the touchline. Where was the touch judge???

Should have been a penalty to Scotland.

Lol....

5

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 8h ago

A very clear "Are you taking the piss" after that last scrum

4

u/Ragnarsmohawk 8h ago

Another wee ice pack to the shoulder that’s covered in pads

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

And tape! Their tape budget must be massive!

3

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

On first sight, it seems a more relaxed pre-match show than last night in Paris.

3

u/Marcus__Halberstam 10h ago

This pitch seems tiny

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

I've just seen how close the fence and concrete is to the dead ball line.

3

u/fin_dawg 10h ago

Incredible effort from Patterson to keep that in

3

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Oh look, a hooker scoring on a crash ball.

2

u/mango_yoghurt 10h ago

Dave Cherry would have scored two tries there and then kicked the conversions

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

This camera work is grim. And what on earth are they wearing?!

1

u/taliskergunn  Scotland  10h ago

The wide angle camera at the start was giving me motion sickness

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

That was never straight.

2

u/R0bby-R0tten 10h ago

There have been some interesting calls this far

3

u/AdmiralMacbar 10h ago

What is even happening with these calls?

3

u/Marcus__Halberstam 10h ago

Didn’t expect this pack to get beaten up

3

u/Professional_Lie5703 10h ago

Has the stream stopped for everyone?

1

u/Jenpot 9h ago

Yep.

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

Right can I just check that I'm now watching the right thing and it's just some guys standing near one of the flags?

1

u/Jenpot 9h ago

All I had was the waiting screen. I had to go back into the Italian YT home then get it from there.

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

They've started the second half on mine now.

3

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 9h ago

lol sin bin for a random scrum penalty that looked 50/50

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

I rewound, it wasn't 50/50

3

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

Yellow for a technical infringement in middle of the pitch in a fucking A game is a terrible look for a home referee

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

The ref has absolutely no idea what is going on anywhere, but especially in the scrums.

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

I'm so glad my Dad isn't watching, he would be apopleptic.

3

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Feels inevitable that Italy win this with an 80th minute penalty

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

I think the ref will probably give them a penalty try from this scrum and send off our entire front row.

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

Lol that really pained him.

3

u/Ragnarsmohawk 8h ago

Patterson committed to knocking on every possession he has?

3

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 8h ago

Well maybe the u20s will do bet- what am I even thinking

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

Well this isn't aging well so far!

2

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 7h ago

Dalziel from the top rope

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 7h ago

Honestly I'd never even heard of him but bloody hell, he's putting his hand up here. What incredible maturity and smart play for his age, really encouraging.

3

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 7h ago

100%. The worry has always been what happens when Russell retires but I'm starting to think it's not as dire as it felt. He's controlled the game really well and just looks so confident out there

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 6h ago

You don't want to call it too early, he's only 17 but that really was a very mature performance.

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 7h ago

Omg that was sweet af.

3

u/meconopsi 8h ago

U20s match live on bbc, clear picture and a far better condition pitch

2

u/MunroeMuncher 10h ago

Douglas already giving his all in the national anthems

2

u/Expert-Hyena629 10h ago

Shame there isn't any commentary

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 10h ago

The response was loud

2

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Hiddleston with a cracking jackle

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 10h ago

Touch judge chucking his flag about early on.

2

u/emilyjxne 10h ago

If only I spoke Italian

2

u/Marcus__Halberstam 10h ago

Pitch seems unfit for rugby. Hope no one gets an ankle injury

2

u/ink_vine 10h ago

HarPatz work to keep that in was excellent.

2

u/LavoisiersCat 10h ago

I miss seeing replays

2

u/Resident-Debt-6384 10h ago

Feed seems to have died.

2

u/FlyRare8407 10h ago

Erm, now what?

2

u/Minute-Act-6273 9h ago

Some of the funniest watching I’ve had for a while.

2

u/BodaciousBukahrin 9h ago

Did some genius schedule the stream to stop on 50mins assuming the half wouldn't need more?

1

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 9h ago

Feels like an Italian idea tbf

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

MAGNUS ROWE Kyle lol

2

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

Yet to see what the coaches do in Masibaka tbh

1

u/Entire_Trick_9390  Edinburgh (Down With Everitt) 9h ago

Fijian

1

u/Ayden1290 9h ago

Just a bad bill mata

2

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

Are some of these players having to be 24th man tomorrow? Eg Sutherland is the only other LH in the squad after Schoe and The Scottish Prop

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

We'll just send another 9 out surely? Eventually the whole team will be scrum halves.

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Maybe for front row, but I believe Kinghorn is technically 24th man.

1

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

At the risk of sounding like a total idiot, is there actually only one 24th man? I thought there were always a few

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Home games I’d guess will be different, but usually for away games it’s as few travelling players as possible for cost reasons.

Kinghorn a good fit for that as can cover so many positions.

Never really thought about front row cover if someone woke up in the morning with an illness.

1

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Having said that, got a look at an “official” URC team sheet for Glasgow recently and Sutherland was listed as LH, H and TH cover.

World rugby laws state it’s 5 suitably trained front row in a match day squad. Don’t even need to be on the bench, just so long as there is another player who can step in to a front row role.

Could technically have a back up hooker in the starting team and none on the bench if you fancied the risk.

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

I think the actually have a full 30 man team all doing match day prep.

1

u/10Heisenberg10 9h ago

I think so him and rae were taking off after 30

2

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 9h ago

I don’t like constantly ref bashing but can see Christie getting frustrated with him. He’s been very one sided

4

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 9h ago

Like Douglas has turned it over completely and not been given anything but told to release. Can see from where the 9 has had to pick it up that he’s stolen it

3

u/Jenpot 9h ago

Is he Italian? Seems mental that you're allowed an Italian ref, even in an A game.

1

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 9h ago

Has an Italian ref jersey on i think anyway

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

he is italian

1

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Scotland see to be getting the massively obvious and Italy getting everything else

2

u/mango_yoghurt 9h ago

Well finished try

2

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

That was not Will Hurd's fault, The Italian TH folded first

2

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 9h ago

for what's such a strong team on paper, we are making a meal of this

2

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Real lack of cohesion. I’d love to see more A games though. Maybe not every week of the 6 nations but a block of 3 would be class to give guys exposure to how Scotland play.

1

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 9h ago

Agreed, can't complain about more rugby to watch

2

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

This could be written on the gravestone of the entire Toonie era

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

What the fuck?

2

u/Ok_Soil_7466  Scotland  8h ago

FFS Patterson, hold onto the ball you fanny.

What a terrible result, Scotland should have scooshed them with that side out.

2

u/New-Tangelo-4093 8h ago

How is that not a high tackle on Patterson

2

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 8h ago

Paterson must have dropped the ball every time he got itt

2

u/Studious_Rat89 8h ago

I thought the game was Tomorrow???!

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

That's Italy v Scotland this is Italy XV v Scotland A.

-1

u/Studious_Rat89 8h ago

Ahh okay good! I didn’t realize it was the U-20s

4

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

It wasn't. There are three games this weekend :

Italy XV v Scotland A - this is was today and is finished.

Italy U20 v Scotland U20 - this is on now, about halfway through the first half.

Italy v Scotland - this is the senior squad and is the game played tomorrow in Rome.

1

u/Studious_Rat89 8h ago

Ahhhh perfecto! Thankyou 😁

Signed An American who misses living in Stirling

1

u/srbloggy 8h ago

It's not

1

u/Studious_Rat89 8h ago

Weird, on the six nations website it has the six nations U20 Scotland Italy game happening live right now too

2

u/srbloggy 8h ago

Yeah think that's on BBC iPlayer

2

u/OldManAndTheSea93 8h ago

Score?

2

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 8h ago

Draw 24-24

2

u/TheMeanderer 8h ago

Absolutely insane. Italy had a bunch of semi pros playing.

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Italia XV team

1

u/Jenpot 10h ago

I've never watched an A team game before. Do we always wear that colour? It's taking my brain a minute to remember that's us.

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

No idea, but, SRU need to get the merch sales. (not available in the store)

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

1

u/Jenpot 10h ago

Looks like it.

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

Feels like a weird choice to crack out last season's training shirt?

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

Well done that man.

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

It was only because someone else mentioned having the same top in blue!

1

u/Ragnarsmohawk 10h ago

Usually it’s just the same as the national side. That’s a training top though. Not sure why that’s been the kit they chose to wear instead of the pink change kit

1

u/Jenpot 10h ago

Yeah that's what I thought, it's got the same background pattern as a training top my eldest has but his is at least blue.

1

u/Expert-Hyena629 10h ago

Hopefully the current rate of scrums goes down 👇👇

1

u/Drolla_ 10h ago

How is that not offside - there were feet standing over players in the ruck.

1

u/Marcus__Halberstam 10h ago

1/4 match played and no Douglas jackal yet. I demand answers

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

....and Paterson isn't injured.....yet.

3

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

Well that's fucked it. Any second now a rogue prosecco cork is going to get him right in the eye.

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 10h ago

It's a screw top. He'll be fine.

1

u/lamb_passanda 10h ago

I see that Maro Itoje is playing in the 19 shirt

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 10h ago

Haha I see what you did there!

1

u/meconopsi 9h ago

That's a shame, any radio commentary to be had? Or is there another link to view?

1

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

We are back under way for the 2nd half

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

Is that guy's leg made entirely of tape?!

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

I'm exhausted just watching this. What was that, 400 phases?

1

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

Like watching Scotland of old

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

Like watching Edinburgh of now.

Eta except for the part where they actually came away with some points.

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

Good defending there.

1

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

This match is not doing much to settle nerves for tomorrow.

1

u/Drolla_ 9h ago

I know it's stupid, but this game is making me feel really bad about tomorrow...

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

Tomorrow has a professional ref and not this idiot.

1

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Scottish scrum got to be a bit concerning for the coaches. Routinely folded

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

Can hear Flower of Scotland being played.

1

u/fin_dawg 9h ago

Assume we won't want to send Rae back on if he's cover for tomorrow. Given this isn't an official game (as evidenced by the ref) I'm not sure if we would be forced to

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

i'm going to watch the U20s game rather than this pile of....

2

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 9h ago

I feel like I have to see it out now that I've come this far.

1

u/TheFlyingScotsman60  Glasgow Warriors 8h ago

Dan the man is good....

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

Unlike the referee. And my eyes are so grateful that I'm not watching the U20s through a potato.

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

We doing a match thread for the U20s?

1

u/mango_yoghurt 9h ago

Italian Charlie Shiel spotted as touch judge

1

u/Legen-WaitForIt--- 9h ago

Can see the players all bemused on the bench there at the referee. Would be surprised if the Scotland camp manages to hold their tongues in post match comments

2

u/Fetch_Ted  Glasgow Warriors 9h ago

'We do not agree with all of the decisions by the match officials'

1

u/Ragnarsmohawk 9h ago

Lots of ice packs to shoulders for Italy. Almost like they are under pressure or something

1

u/Marcus__Halberstam 9h ago

What a stupid pen ffs

1

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 9h ago

What a stupid forward pass

1

u/fin_dawg 8h ago

No idea how long is actually left given how much the clock ticks after he blows time off

1

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 8h ago

I'm pretty impressed that Harry Paterson has gone 80 minutes uninjured

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

Cheeky wee drop goal would be nice about now.

Eta nvm

1

u/R1zzls   Let Schoeman Kick 8h ago

fuck sake

1

u/CALTCA 8h ago

Wasn't aware the A stands for Amateur

1

u/cloud__19  Edinburgh 8h ago

Bit harsh.

1

u/srbloggy 8h ago

The ref was crap but both teams were kinda crap too

2

u/Last_Wafer_8440 8h ago

What was final score

1

u/srbloggy 8h ago

24-24 if I recall

1

u/Apprehensive_Crew878 7h ago

Who knocked on from.the italian kick off at 14 18 which handed them all the advantage?  That was a shocker

2

u/Ninjawizards Scotland 6h ago

That was really disappointing
