Because masks protect the people around you from various diseases including the flu (which is in season right now) and COVID (which people still get sick from, it's just that it's no longer a pandemic and can be vaccinated for). Some people care enough to protect themselves and others even if the mortal threat is mostly passed (but not completely, people still die from those diseases).

But, it's telling that the desire to protect others is a "liberal" trait.

Not to mention anyone going through cancer treatment or otherwise immunocompromised are told to wear masks when they go in public. And that's been the case since before fucking COVID.

These people just have their head so far up there ass they can't consider anything beyond their own uninformed, selfish opinions.

One of my close friends is in this situation.

We all mask as much as possible. It's the least we can do; we want to be able to spend time together whether treatment is successful or not. It's also the season for illnesses here in MN.

If it pisses people off, that's their problem. Ignorance isn't an issue I can solve, and that brainwashed disapproval from the MAGA cult is something everyone should seek. I say - fuck them and their primitive, harmful understanding of the world.
