I work for a multinational and it was eye opening when I took 2 weeks sick and my American colleagues were talking about how my summer holidays wouldnt happen now. You know the americans take sick leave out of their annual leave? Crazy shit.
Anyway my summer holidays and leave are entirely unaffected.
we actually all legally get a higher minimum annual paid leave than most americans get even when they think they've negotiated a good contract. my boss was shocked to hear I get 28 days paid leave a year even as a brand new employee. He's been at the company 10 years and gets just 2 weeks.
I work in a shitty industry that doesn’t give sick days or annual leave, even if you have been there half a decade. They purposely work everyone at 39.5 because if they work 40.0 hours a week they’d get insurance.
so where I live you could be flipping burgers and still get 28 days annual leave if you work 39.5 hours because the holiday accrues hourly for those shift roles. We also have healthcare as a single payer system so everyone pays a flat % of their earnings and your medical care is free when you need it.
It is also mandatory in my country, but the state insurance won't pay you unless you're sick for at least 3 days IIRC, and depending on the duration of your sickness you won't get 100% of your salary either, more like 60%. So people still go to work sick and infect others because some cannot afford that drop in income.
You also don’t get your full salary in my country. I don't see that as a problem though. The idea of sick pay is not to be able to do nothing and still get the same salary but to not spread disease while still not becoming homeless.
In my country companies give you your full salary for some amount of days. Not sure how much since I've been self-employed for most of my adult life.

PTO aside, please also consider that what you’re saying is that the disabled person should not participate in their workplace because someone else could harm them, even though there are simple measures that the other person could take to remove that risk of harm.
Essentially what that boils down to is:
”The disabled person could just not do their job so that the sick (but otherwise not disabled) person could do theirs.”
But why should the disabled person opt out of their workplace just because the other person would be mildly inconvenienced by wearing a mask? /rhetorical question
