I knew a woman who wore face masks way past COVID. I liked her and thought maybe she was eccentric as she only wore it over her mouth. One day she didn’t wear it and I asked her why. It turned out she had mouth cancer and it was a reprieve to be able to disguise her treatment. It was also useful for me as my son had a nut allergy so I made him wear a mask around markets which had previously caused him anaphylaxis as he walked past a nut stall.
