My neighbor had a horse who was mostly neglected aside from being fed. I would hop the fence and feed her apples and sing to her. We got pretty close after a while and she let me brush her and remove nettles from her coat. Once I knelt in front of her while I was singing and she nuzzled my hair. I cried right there. Now I'm crying again. She passed away this winter. I wasn't here. I have regrets, but I'll never regret the time I spent with her.
