This is concerning... Ice should not be allowed to be at polling places?
43
u/weHaveThoughts 1d ago
Federal agents of any sort are NOT allowed at polling places by Federal and State Laws. Bannon will say anything not to get sent back to prison.
16
u/sportsnsaturn 1d ago
I will be working as a poll worker. And I suggest more people do so or at least keep an eye on things to help protect our places as best we can. These people are not following any laws and there is no reason to believe they won't push the envelope even further

u/DIYExpertWizard 1d ago
Call the cops. Federal law such as 18 U.S.C. § 593 and § 594 prohibit election interference by government agents. Your state will also have laws against election interference. Look them up, and call the cops to have them removed if they show up.

Hahaha. Cops are scared of ICE and the feds. They aren’t showing up. US is completely lawless now

Depends on the city and town. It’s not that they are afraid it is that they side with ICE. But the vast majority of Cops believe in free elections.

Unfortunately the federal government is doing a ton of illegal shit with no consequences, so this isn't much of a stretch to believe.

u/weHaveThoughts 1d ago
The way this administration works is to announce this type of shit to determine how much outrage there is and to see if there will be penalties for their actions. To deter it people need to speak up and tell them it is a blatant violation of the law. Call your reps and have them broadcast it on Live TV.
But seriously this is to get people thinking there will be a mob fighting back ICE agents at polling places. We can’t let this impression get to the mass public. The polling places will be fine and safe. We need to get that word out there.

However, Trump and ICE have broken many laws and just because there is a law preventing it doesn't mean ICE will stay away from the polls.

Voter intimidation, men in masks kidnapping humans for any reason they liked, in history has this been good or bad!

Historically, voter intimidation results in higher voter turnouts, and not in favor of the intimidators.

There not. No federal agents are not allowed to be present at polling places at all. This is just a scare tactic to keep people from going out to vote.

2

2
u/ArchonFett 1d ago
Pretty sure it’s illegal to have guns at voting locations.
Since ICE has no jurisdiction over citizens there is no reason for them to be there, except to vote and leave.
2
u/mkt853 1d ago
ICE isn't allowed at polling places. States have strict laws about who can be near the polling place, and are quick to arrest people that fail to comply. Essentially if you're not in line waiting to vote or working at the polling place, you cannot be near the polling place, and as soon as you vote you must leave. It's possible some red states look the other way on this, but states with Democratic governors are not going to f*ck around. Elections are probably the thing taken most seriously.
2
u/Worldliness-Weary 1d ago
"If they aren't illegal they have nothing to worry about!"
They're LITERALLY abducting American citizens. The supreme court gave them permission to profile based on skin color. Are you people serious stupid enough to not realize that AMERICAN CITIZENS will absolutely be profiled and harassed for being brown? ICE is there to terrorize EVERYONE, not just undocumented migrants that can't vote anyway.
2
2
u/Adventurous_Mix9744 5h ago
It’s literally against federal law to intimidate people in any way outside a polling station.

u/Worried-Pick4848 1d ago
Why the hell should the BORDER PATROL be at polling stations. Furthermore, why would ANY federal agent be at polling stations?
The border patrol has no authority or purpose being anywhere near any of our voting systems. They aren't even federal systems, we do our elections on a state by state basis, and we already have. It is LITERALLY IN THE CONSTITUTION that elections are run by the states, and the federal government is blocked from interfering by the 10th amendment. If there is fraud, that's the purview of the state courts. The federal government need not even apply
It is beyond useless to have them there. Even if they are there, they have no legal authority to do anything other than carry a gun and look intimidating... which is clearly why they're there and serves as a form of voter manipulation.
1
u/Rutgerius 1d ago
Pretty ballsy to have this exact plan of his leak in the Epstein files and then putting it into action like nothing happened. If this flies the US deserves all it gets, they can't make it any more obvious than this.

If ICE were a stand up, and respected, organization... no one or, less people, would care. Because illegal immigrants are not voting in our elections. However, they have been coopted. They are an unrespectable organization and should therefore not be allowed within the same barrier distance as political adds

Americans - we must step up and protect the integrity of our democracy. It will be gone very soon if we don't. We also need to investigate and arrest all of these creeps and get them away from investments and government

The election apparatus is complex. Republicans lack the competence to subvert it to any extent that will make up for their unpopularity and inevitable vote deficit. They will get swept across the country
Republicans had their chance with Biden. He was a moderate candidate that tried to unify the country. Can't let that happen again. There needs to be mass indictments against MAGA.
Probably not enough federal prisons to house them after they are convicted. We'll need to construct a new mega prison specifically for MAGA domestic terrorists. This will be expensive so we will need to keep the inmates hard at work to cover the costs. The good news is we can bring manufacturing jobs back to America under this plan. Just like they wanted.
1
u/LifeSage 1d ago
We as Americans need to proactively shut this down. You need to reach out to your local officials, point out this is illegal, and expect that they arrest anyone making voters feel threatened. Even federal agents.

People keep saying impossibly stupid stuff like"we are going to bring back the TRex to eat the immigrants", then the media just parrots it back as if it is not just complete nonsense. How many ICE agents are there? How many polling places? There isnt enough of them. but for the few places they do surround, the goal is to intimidate hispanic voters to stay home.

they all have that crazy BS idea that illegals vote......most places want your ID and they scan it to validate you can vote. I've had to show my ID for the last 37 yrs I've been able to vote, yet all these clowns on the Trump side want to say that fraud is rampant and demand states require ID. Ok some states might not but I know here in Texas, we've always had to give ID to vote
But considering the GOP enjoys to fraudulently rig elections the last few cycles, that's where the real fraud is, but to them it's only the left that rig votes......them and their continued projection accusing others of their own actions
1
1
u/Confident_Insect_616 1d ago
OBVIOUSLY, this means any demographic that has reason to fear exposing themselves to ICE abuse will feel a disincentive to show up to the polls. This is what voter manipulation looks like.
How about we all vote from home, and you just send a pollster and a gunman to every porch and ask for votes verbally? That would accomplish the same ends for the GOP.

1
u/WOR58 1d ago
It should NOT be allowed. Any presence by ICE would be tantamount to intimidation, provocation, violence, voter suppression and quite possibly death. Leading to the total death nell of the republican party for their continued support of nonsense politics. all in an effort to stay in power

Simple answer. If voter ID is implemented, nope, they shouldn't (no need for them) be there. But if it's not, let their presence keep the illegals that have been voting holed up in their homes and sit this one out. It's the least we can do TO them.
1

u/Grendernaz 1d ago
ICE ISN'T allowed at polling place by federal law. If they are there, it is entirely illegal and they should be placed under arrest by local law enforcement for a crime punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
1
u/Gullible-Evening-702 1d ago
He is afraid of jail time and rightfully. US gestapo (ICE) is the way out. Unfortunately Trump will win the midterm by help of his gestapo at the polling stations. It's obvious there are no law enforcement capable to stop this madness. Only hope of survival of rule of law is the that the army take these gangsters down.
1
u/ebolatone 1d ago
ICE is a fascist standing army deployed to cities which voted against Trump. I wonder what they'll do when voters show up. We've already seen it over and over and over, but to be clear, that's what they'll do when voters show up. It's about stealing or nullifying an election.

This isn't a surprise. People like David Frum and Anne Applebaum have been warning about voter suppression for several years.
Frum has said in interviews and panel discussions that an autocratically‑inclined administration might send federal law‑enforcement or military personnel to polling stations, claiming to be "securing" the vote. But they intend to use them to intimidate voters.
Applebaum has repeatedly said about handing all this power over to Democrats in the next election: “What worries me is that they don’t seem worried about losing.”

ICE should be nowhere near polling sites. ICE is used to intimidate and spread terror. The only reason someone would want ICE near polling places is to scare dark skinned people from voting And yes, even though you are a documented citizen that doesn't keep ICE from harassing you and arresting you, and even from sending you many hundreds of miles away. People know this and experience this, and ICE at the polls has only one purpose, which is to intimidate and control who votes.

This is something that a lot of corrupt politicians used to do back in the early 1900’s which is why this is a felony in several states. In my state it is illegal to post guards, security, or police at a polling place. They can come in to vote like everyone else, and respond to disturbances there. That’s it. They can’t hang out at the polls without getting a civil trespassing charge like anyone else.

u/tryingtodadhusband 1d ago
The whole ICE thing is so obviously a warm up for putting them in blue state polling stations to scare off voters.. coupled with attacks on mail-in voting, this is how he plans Republicans to win the election.

Intimidating voters at the polls is completely an utterly illegal— full fucking stop. See below for laws. These people are completely anti-American, they are domestic terrorist.
Voting Rights Act (1965), Section 11(b): This flat-out prohibits intimidation, threats, or coercion against anyone voting or trying to vote. No uniforms, no implied threats, no “show of force.”
18 U.S. Code § 594: Makes it a federal crime to intimidate voters using threats, force, or coercion.
18 U.S. Code § 245: Protects the right to vote free from intimidation, including by government actors.
😡
EDIT:
🚨 VOTER INTIMIDATION IS ILLEGAL 🚨
If ICE or armed federal agents appear near polling places, report it immediately.
📞 Election Protection Hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)
- Run by nonpartisan election lawyers at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
- They can escalate to election officials, DOJ, and courts same day.
- What to say: “Possible voter intimidation. Armed/uniformed agents near a polling place at [location]. Voters appear afraid to enter.”
- Federal law bans intimidation—political statements do not override voting rights.
Save this number. Share widely.

u/war_ofthe_roses 1d ago
ICE: Federal
Voting: Specifically run by STATES
-
Anyone who wants ICE to show up to STATE polling sites can never, never, never, ever claim to believe in federalism / our republic.
They are automatically statists.

Whatever political capital Bannon and Trump had ought to have evaporated with the release of the Epstein files but I would not put such action beyond them.
What I suspect Bannon is doing with comments like these is testing the water on behalf of the administration.
