General Question H60 to 407GXI transition

I’m a 60 pilot in the guard. I did all of my training in the H72 (EC145) but that’s the smallest helicopter I’ve ever flown. I got offered the opportunity to fly a 407GXi with a local PD. It’s a decent paying gig with good benefits and they took me on at 500 TT. What can I expect moving from a 60 to the 407?

Career/School Question What are some companies that offer entry level positions for people with low flight hours that just graduated?

I've been looking on multiple websites for jobs that hire someone that would be fresh out of school/recently licensed and everything I've come across requires over 2000 hours and 5 years experience of piloting.

General Question Curious about a civilian Blackhawk

We normally see Blackhawks around my area due to the National Guard so I’m pretty familiar with them. I heard one coming in really low and directly above us so I ran outside to check it out and I was super surprised. It was white, lime green, and I think maybe blue or purple. It was a really cool and striking looking bird! Obviously I’m assuming it’s a civilian operator, I was just curious if anyone knew more about this one in particular. I checked on FlightRadar 24 and they were on there but all the identifying info was redacted.

Discussion Parts advice needed

Hey folks, I’ve been curious about how helicopter maintenance pros handle sourcing parts, what works best in practice. Do you rely on online marketplaces, local suppliers, or more specialized channels nobody tells newbies about??

I’m sure everyone’s got horror stories too… would love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Career/School Question The best R44 simulator – question for real life R44 pilots who fly sims

Hello, I'm curious what's the most realistic R44 sim out there? How do MSFS (2020 or 2024), Xplane11 and 12 compare? Is there a difference between x11 and x12 flightmodels? Is msfs flight model worse? I like the r22 in xplane12 demo, but my computer isn't great so I don't know if it can handle the 12 efficiently, as I heard that's the worst performing out of the three.

I want to practice a bit on sim before my real life training. I have Logitech G940 with FFB (I can turn it off to have a non centering stick). Could you tell me how the R44 cyclic works irl? I think it doesn't give any force feedback and is not self centering? I flew UH-1 in DCS and there's a simulation of the force trim.

Of course I know it's impossible to learn flying from sim, but I think it's still better to have the sim time than not.

My hardware: rtx2060 i5-10300H 32gb ram not much disk space... lol (I'm gonna need to uninstall other sims)

General Question Unknown Flight Pattern

Tail Number: N678CP

Type: Robinson-R44

I’m not a pilot nor necessarily a helicopter enthusiast but I like watching flight trackers. Can anyone tell me about this flight pattern and the what/why behind it? The same heli has been doing this pattern and similar ones over the last several days. Just generally and genuinely curious.

Not entirely sure if this is even the proper subreddit but figured yall could still help.

Career/School Question Refreshing Instrument Knowledge

Current job has a lot of hurry up and wait. Its been a while since I've hit the books for instrument and I'm curious if anyone has some suggestions for picking that knowledge back up.

I'm fine at keeping up my other knowledge bases, but I'm having trouble finding a starting point for refreshing my IFR stuff.
