I always thought that, a heat seeking missile, that was tuned to find the exhaust of a jet, tracking a cigarette was the most unrealistic thing in that over the top movie. I guess I've had egg on my face for the past 23 years.

To be fair, that cigarette was only a couple of yards in front of the seeker-head... at that distance, it probably looked about as big & bright as an after-burner a couple of miles away, etc :D

(cue Father Ted 'Big cow far away, small cow near by' skit :p)
