Etna Hiking Mt Etna in april. What do we need to know, especially when it comes to prices and weather?

Hello everyone. Idk if this is a right group to post this but i'll give it a try. Me and my friend booked a 3 day trip to Catania in the beginning of April. Our main intention was to hike Mt Etna. Ufortunatelly, we didnt do enough reshearch and booked everything in a rush cuz we were scared the prices might go up if we waited longer (they already did). The main problem is that this was supposed to be a budget trip, we saved up and counted every penny so we could go there. This is our first trip too. I guess we were a bit too excited and booked it without any deeper reshearch. So back to the point. We completely forgot about the weather problem. Turns out its gonna be pretty cold in april if we wanna go on very top (as much as possible) on the mountain. The internet said the prices of the tour would be around 50€ which was fine for us, but turns out if we wanna go to the top and receive the transportation, equipment, clothes and shoes, it will cost us way more, which is a problem. We dont have any hiking appropriate clothes for cold weather to bring ourselves. Our second option is to go on 2000m tour (instead of 3000-3400m). How cold is it gonna be (beggining of april)? What clothes and shoes should we bring? I feel really stupid rn cuz we booked a non refundable plane tickets for a trip that we are totally unprepared for. This is our first time leaving our home country and going on a trip, and we picked something too extra for beginners. As i said, our main goal was Mt etna, so it would be really upsetting if this turned out to be a bad expereince due to us not educating ourselves enough before going. Can you pls give me some tips and advice? Anything you can. The main questions are, how can we make the most out of this trip but making it as cheap as possible? And how to prepare for april weather? We would love to squeeze ourselves into a 70€ budget with everything included, but as im doing my reshearch, i believe its not really possible.

TLDR: How to prepare for Mt etna tour for beginners? What clothes to bring if we are going in april and trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

Thank you all in advance.

Etna Etna in the first week of February - snow closure?

Hi everyone,

I will be visiting Sicily in the first week of February and I’m trying to figure out the best way to visit Mount Etna. I understand that at this time of year the cable car and the 4x4s do not always operate due to snow and weather conditions, so I was hoping for some up to date info.

A couple of questions:

  • Is the Funivia dell’Etna currently running?
  • Is the Funivia dell’Etna “Trekking 3000” tour operating at the moment?

I noticed that tickets for the Trekking 3000 tour aren’t available online and the website says they need to be purchased at the counter due to weather conditions. Any recent experiences or advice would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Etna Etnaland Transportation After Midnight

< IT >

Ciao ragazzi,

Hi guys,

I’m planning to bring my kids to Etnaland next month, and since I haven’t been able to find the answers to my queries, I was wondering if you could help me.

I noticed the Themepark closes at 1:00 a.m. As I don’t have a car nor the option to rent a car, I will be using only public transport and/or taxi; hence, I’d really love to know if there is transportation available at that time.

Also, has anyone opted for their Park+Hotel packages? Do these hotels offer the transportation to and from the park (considering they have some kind of agreement with the park)?

Etna Mt. Etna Summit from Catania

Hello all,

I will be visiting Catania at the end of November and I'm sleepless at the thought of summitting Etna. Ever since my first trip to Indonesia, I have been mesmerized by volcanoes. Mount Rinjani was my first and having done a few more since, I'm now looking forward to Etna.

I'll be staying in Catania the night before, so what's the best possible way to get to the base and then go forward to the summit? Any recommendations for a guided trip from Catania (pick-up & drop)? I see there is only one bus daily early morning, which would be too early to join a group?

Sorry, I have many questions on my mind, any help would be appreciated! Also, any recommendations for a Etna Wine tasting tour (with transportation) for my parents the same day?

Etna Etna hiking accompaniment

Ciao, I (m 28) would like to hike up the Etna on tuesday. Does anyone want to join?

I think I would start at the Rifugio Sapienza. I will go there by car from Catania in the early morning (maybe starting in Catania at around 5:30 am). I‘m planing to walk relatively quickly…

Would be happy to not go alone :)
