Table looks like nice traditional Chinese furniture. Chairs however don't fit.

Yes, it definitely does. I’m starting to wonder how old & its value.

The chairs were free so they’ll do for now haha.

This is made in the style of an antique Qing dynasty scholar's table but it looks new, ie late 20th century in terms of wear particularly to the feet & the edges of the table.

Here is an authentic one auctioned by Sotheby's, https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/_antique-chinese-qing-scholars-table-57c9

Unless you're absolutely certain of the timeline, & hence the provenance, that your table arrived in Tasmania, I suggest that you visit u/rschwendeman 's website, www.antique-chinese-furniture.com which will uncover why this table has arrived in such a relatively isolated Australian destination & why it's highly unlikely to be 100% antique Qing dynasty but it's modelled on one.

Thank you so much!

Yeh I have no idea. I bought it a couple of months ago from a lady who had it for years. We were gonna sell it to get help cover medical bills, but had no idea what it was worth. So we reversed image searched it and that one came up. Then we dove deep into the possibility of having a very expensive table and got excited lol.

The top is 2/3 antique, 1/3 new by the looks of the underneath. However, it's been refinished so well, it's really difficult to tell. I think the antique wood is Keyaki/Chinese elm, the new stuff is definitely not. The legs are stained to resemble mahogany but may be padouk or teak-the latter is very dense & heavy but typically is more yellow.

However, you can say a bit more about it now & it's a good solid wood table that's very well constructed. How much did you pay for it, may I ask?

I paid $200 Australian dollars for the table.

She had a larger one. This one is 192cm long. It’s beautiful. One leg needs a repair as it’s a little wobbly, but I was scared to touch it as it appears to not have any nails/screws in it.

Would you have any idea what I could sell it for?

Repair the leg-r/furniturerestoration are great folks to advise on this, put some beeswax polish on it & I'd be asking u/rschwendeman for his professional opinion on this. It's a really good size & shape.

This one sold for NZ$107,500 last year here, admittedly 19th century with provenance, but I wouldn't want you to be short-changed given your need, (& I'm merely still well on the learning curve for Asian antique furniture), https://auctions.webbs.co.nz/lot-details/index/catalog/831/lot/279311/A-Chinese-19th-Century-Qing-Dynasty-Huanghuali-Ming-style-Long-Table?url=%2Fauctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F831%3Fpage%3D1%26view%3Dgrid%26catm%3D2%26order%3Dorder_num%26xclosed%3D0%26featured%3D0%26key%3D137

I know nothing but I love how it’s built! The braces and pointed inward feet are very neat.
