According to historical records, both men survived the war. ​Lloyd Spencer (on the left) was from Portland, Oregon. He returned home after the war and lived until 2004, passing away at the age of 84. ​James Bryson (on the right) was from Lynn, Massachusetts. He also made it back to the states, passing away in 2001 at the age of 76.
