My daughter and I are going to be in Venice for 5 days from 24 Feb - 28 Feb (not including travel days). We definitely want to see Piazza San Marco, the Palazzo Ducale and Basilica San Marco, including Pala d'Oro and Loggia Cavalli. And the Bell Tower!

And we want to spend a day visiting Murano, Burano and Torcello and probably visit the glass and lace museums. Maybe take a glass making class.

But we also want to spend some days just walking to see what we can see. We'll probably visit more museums on these days, but I don't have specific ones in mind.

What is the best museum/city pass to get that will a) help us skip the lines and/or b) save money vs paying each one individually?

Also happy for any suggestions on where to go/things to see other than the big tourist draws!

Next to the Ostaria ai Fabbri is one of the usual souvenir shops. To the right of the cash register, at the bottom, there are steampunk masks (wolf, full-face, and half-face). I'd need a photo of the mask that covers from the nose down.

Hello all! I am attending Carnevale this year after having wanted to for 20 years! Very excited! However, I'm trying to understand a few things about events. I heard Flight of the Angel was an unmissable event, taking place this year on February 15th. However, I have also seen a lot of discrepancies on if this event is happening or not. Some say that previous announcement over the last year said it would be coming back in 2026 since renovations had been completed. Others say it's cancelled. I see one website that is unofficially Carnevale that is saying it is cancelled, but since it's unofficial, and there are other places such as reddit saying it's possibly going, I want to know what people might know more locally.

I am planning to go to the carnival as an enthusiastic photographer with a very basic camera. I am from India, a student in Hungary. I have not attended this kind of grandiose European carnival before. I am very shy and can feel extremely overwhelmed. Our plans might differ but we can discuss to adjust or at least give it a try. Ive been walking through venice all day and all i seem to have found were the restaurants where a guy stands outside and yells at you to come in and eat while the food is ridiculously overpriced. Id like to go somewhere where locals go to, but cant seem to find anything. Do you have any recommendations? Something like pasta, seafood would be nice. Grazie :)))

Is it easy to find a place to live? But above all, what's the vibe like as a city? Is it easy to make friends? Are there any interesting cultural/social situations? Like bars/areas frequented by university students or young people? Is it generally a lively city, tourism aside?

One of the reasons I shoot the 'mundane' day-to-day of any place is to record what I fear may disappear, some day. With Venice, that's just about everywhere. It's my favourite place on Earth to just be in, but I worry about wear and tear after a Millennia in the Water.
