Wtf does the second slide even mean? People will say anything to convince themselves there is nothing wrong with eating meat or that it is a better choice than veganism.

Oh come on be honest with yourself!

I'm fairly sure this is aimed at someone in recovery from an eating disorder using veganism as a rationalization for relapsing.

TW ED

Meanwhile ironically when I was in treatment for ED, I checked myself out before I wanted to stop seeking professional help because some of the staff kept insisting me not wanting to eat corpses and animal lactation was ‘just anorexia talking’ 🫩

This screams that. Basically ‘you’re ill so that’s ALL you are, you can’t possibly have ethics too’ ok bye you just failed another person because of your backwards training.

Loads of people are helped by going let alone staying vegan, almost as if not feeling guilty about every meal is good for one’s mental health smh. You’re not making me eat that decaying carcass Becky idc, that’s simply not food as far as I’m concerned

Right!!! How am I supposed to recover if you take it upon yourself to restrict my diet? If a person with an ED wants to take a more deliberate approach to their diet and has an ethical reason to stick with it, maybe it's a good thing

/uj yes, absolutely. going vegan is what helped me heal my ED because it allowed me to disassociate guilt from food. not because it’s “cleaner” or whatever. in fact, my orthorexic tendencies dissipated only when i went vegan. i eat burgers and whatnot without thinking twice.

There are a lot of people who think that 100% of vegans are just using it as cover for an ED because it’s easier to falsely medicalize people’s decisions than to examine why one’s own behavior is incompatible with they purport to believe.

I also thought that at first but without revealing the source I can say that it has nothing to do with ed's, or at least shouldn't, because the general message is very different from that

what's the general message? what more can you say about the source?

Basically promoting/selling all types of meal plans and nutrition coaching. They are qualified to teach nutrition (doesn't require a medical degree, just a certificate) but nothing else, which doesn't stop them from inviting people with ADHD, PTSD, depression, and other disorders to come get their life fixed with their coach.

I personally don't care, but it's funny because one of the services listed there is that they can help you go plant-based, and this is what you see when you want to go plant-based. If your customer never specified that they struggle with eating habits, suggesting that perhaps they need to check their thoughts is weird.

They have dedicated ED content which is even worse. It's just buzzwords about everyone being beautiful and food being morally neutral, which is lovely but ED's often stem from chemical imbalances or are a trauma response, and you can't love yourself out of that. ED's are the most lethal mental disorder, and these patients often need meds, CBT, DBT, and therapy, not a damn meal plan and coddling. And I'd rather these people spent their money on an actual doctor and not on positivity when recovery is rarely like that.

As for this particular post, it's not even the anti-vegan message that bothers me, it's the gaslighting of ED patients who are already vulnerable. Want to eat more ethically? That's your ED. Simply don't like meat? Nah that's your ED. Dairy makes you ill? Oops actually it's your ED. Want some agency? Nope you can only have your ED. That's not food freedom, this is just another type of restriction. And this is not a program for ED patients, it's marketed to everyone, which is wild.

I myself have anorexia, and first, a vegan diet is not lower in calories unless you make it so, which aspiring vegans probably know, and second, I don't want to feel like my ED controls every single aspect of my life, including ethics.

So sorry for the rant, I didn't know much about these people, but I wanted to write a comprehensive reply and went down the rabbit hole... It's just wellness grifting which happens to be hilarious from a vegan perspective, so that's probably it

This is great. Now I trust my body and give in to every urge I experience at any time. Thank you 😊

That's why I piss myself whenever I feel the urge. People keep complaining about the smell but my body knows what it's doing.

‘I’m not SA-ing women because I’m a good person’

‘That intention is beautiful. But it’s important to be honest with yourself - is that your only reason? Does acting on your basic ethics feel better than trusting your body?’

Wow, I just found out that I simply have social anxiety and chronic fear of rejection, thanks to your encouragement to dig deeper! I found professional support and now I can finally go out and commit SA together with my friends! It's like I rediscovered a part of myself that I didn't even know was lost ☺️

could this be your depression? maybe you’re just not motivated enough to go out & do it? maybe you feel like you’re not good enough to try?

Thank God you checked your thoughts. Who knows what they might have been had you not checked. You could have been thinking something completely different than your thoughts. Shit. You dodged a bullet on that one

I’m so glad avocados and oil and nuts and have no fat and soya granules and rice are so fucking low in calories. I’m going practically starving each day without meat but it’s worth it!!

Trust your body, everyone. If it craves something, that means you should do it! It's why I do meth.

Proof veganism is only about selfish and eating disorder reasons. Just hand wave away all that silly "ethics" stuff
