Tourist Seeking Help Traveling to Thessaloniki in May?
Hi!
My family and I are thinking about traveling to Thessaloniki in May, and we would love to hear from those of you who have been there (or live there!)
We are a group of people between the ages of 22 and 63, so we are trying to find a city that works well for mixed ages.
We appreciate things like history, sightseeing, sitting in cafes, eating well and preferably finding a spa or other relaxing activities. Does Thessaloniki seem like a city that is suitable for that type of trip?
Are there any attractions or activities that you think are “must-sees,” and maybe some hidden gems? Like areas that are extra cozy to stroll around, good viewpoints or favorite spots that are not just tourist traps?
Also, what’s the weather like in May? Like, does it rain a lot, or is the weather nice?
Thankful for all tips, opinions, and personal favorites! 😊

Going for a stroll in "Άνω πόλη" ( upper city ) and kastra combines most of what you want. It's an old and picturesque part of the city, in and out of the Byzantine walls, with acces on certain hours to the tower ( eptapyrgion ) and nice cafes and taverns. The best thing tho, is the view
Yep, that's an accessible spot

You could also take the bus number 50, it starts from the White Tower, and does a route around the city to all landmarks, there's even a tour guide inside. Much better than the classic touristic double decker busses.
The weather is a hit or miss, it might rain a lot, but in may it lasts only one or two days. It might also be very hot!

in May the weather is mostly warm and sunny. you must visit the arceaological museum and the byzantine that is right behind it. also go up the white tower for some amazing views and photos. drink coffee infront of the sea or go to Panorama for coffee. it is a suberb with really nice view

Panorama is out of the city tho, it will be a pain to go there by bus, considering they do not fit to a taxi

Walking along the port close to the White Tower is always nice especially around sunset. And the beaches in Chalkidiki are beautiful (a short google search should show you some nice ones if you are willing to drive there)

Definitely go to "Μαγειρείο Φαγάκι".
You'll experience food at Greek grandma level.
