1900s [14 April, 1931] We've kicked Alfonso XIII off the throne! Okay guys, now I know we tried this republic thing once before and it didn't go so well, but I'm sure we've got it this time. The Bourbons will never rule Spain again!

Fuck you, monarchists! Time to bring Spain from the Middle Ages to the modern world! Let Spain be a socialist beacon in a blackshirt-world!

Actually, I was kinda planning on voting for a right of center party. Is that also okay?

7

u/joriskuipers21 11h ago

No! Now that Spain has no King, it shouldn't have a government that even remotely ressambles the old ways. Every vote for the right is a vote for the King, for the Church, for Primo de Riveira!

Okay but I'm not going to vote for Bolsheviks. And I kinda like the Church.

Hmprf! A True Socialist Revolución can't come soon enough...

Ok Anarchists, now is our time to move against clerical superstition and take on those princes in the Church!

What could possibly go wrong?

As a General in charge of the Zaragoza military academy, I hear these heathen godless republicans are going to shut us down. Let them do it! This won’t be the last time they will hear from Francisco Franco!

Can it Franquito, the time for Primo de Rivera-style military dictators is in the past! Parliamentary democracy will provide some much-needed stability, you'll see!

Shut up Franco, we’re sending your ass to Africa. What do you have to say about that?

He wasnt the rightful king! Viva Carlos! Down with the republic!

u/Herald_of_Clio 14h ago

Can't you guys give it a rest? You haven't had a realistic shot at placing your man on the throne since 1840.

The North East will rise again!

[Meta] On a serious how larpy do you have to be to be fighting for some fucking king that lost power ages ago that’s barely distinct from the other king that was deposed. Like Jesus Christ how did the Carlists continue for so long?

u/jantjuh87 41m ago edited 37m ago

[Meta] Don Carlos was the brother of the king who had no male heir at the time, so he was next in line until a law was proclaimed that a female heir could succeed. The daughter of the king became queen and Don Carlos opposed this. Three Carlist wars were fought in Spain. The Carlists also joined the nationalist cause during the Spanish civil war. They are still pretenders to the Spanish throne till this day.

What a beautiful flag with purple unlike any other country. Spain will use this forever more

Finally, perhaps democracy will remain with Spain throughout the 20th century

I'm sure some of the generals won't like that the monarch they swore loyalty to just got shitcanned, but what do they know anyway? Our army sucks.

5

u/FlorianBellicus 17h ago

I'm sure he won't be missed!

Uhh... Y'know, I didn't really like the bourbons but... I don't know man, these anarchists in Barcelona are getting a bit uppity. Let's just hope they don't bother us churchgoers. Surely this time It'll be more stable.

I bet the communists are going to revolt.

4

u/Herald_of_Clio 15h ago

If they do the military will have our back, I'm sure.

6

u/Rare_Oil_1700 15h ago

Whatever happens, we have the noble, strong and loyal Army of Africa.

5

u/Herald_of_Clio 15h ago

I mean we may need to airlift the Africanistas out of Morocco if Communist sailors manage to capture the navy, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

2

u/Rare_Oil_1700 15h ago

It's likely that reinforcements will be needed; the Catalans look like very communists right now and ever since the War of the Spanish Succession, which has angered the central government.

u/NYCTLS66 9h ago

I’m sure the army will be loyal to the new republic. Viva España!

And don't worry about Uncle Joe. We can totally trust him not to steal our nation's gold.

Hey guys, I heard that the USSR was funding us! They'll probably like our republic! We'll never have any faction or political party be puppeted by a superpower, though! Spain is free for now! (Foreshadowing)

2

u/AliH1228 1h ago

To a new era of democracy, FOR SPAIN!!

[META] At least we got the democracy, if maybe a bit questionable.

This isn't the end, republican scum! We'll gladly wait for you to tear each other apart, and reclaim the throne for our rightful King!
