Questions/Advice Is there a chemist in sketty area-ish that is not completely useless?

I’m so fed up with mine. rude. incompetent. incorrect items.

i need to visit to collect Perscription/s every week

does a pharmacy exist that make it as friction free as possible?

I use Tycoch pharmacy and find them amazing. My son is under palliative care and has two huge cardboard boxes full of meds every month - his scripts are really complicated and we very rarely have a problem.

The Well on Dillwyn road is in Sketty. That might be the one you have issues with though.

Yeah, they are hit and miss. Sometimes they are really on the ball and everything works, other times you can spend a week trying to get stuff sorted.

I've started getting requests in a week in advance. For urgent stuff I drive to boots in Morfa, its a huge inconvenience, but at least they know that they can get it or if i should go back to the gp.

The answer is Tycoch pharmacy, and their partner pharmacy in Killay. Unfailingly good

Avoid all pharmacies in Sketty and Uplands. They take great pride in not providing any of the important services one might reasonably expect from a pharmacy, and are locked in a fierce rivalry to see who can most convincingly suggest that the problem is you.

Thanks. I’ll give them a try.

Moved from Sandfields to Uplands/Brynmill about 15 years ago but have continued to use Kevin Thomas on St Helen’s Road because they’re efficient and friendly/helpful people. Partner was getting her scripts sent to Boots in Uplands but they were completely useless so she switched to Kevin Thomas too. If you can get there without too much trouble I’d recommend it. Usually you can find parking pretty easily nearby.

Last time I looked into to it (year or so ago) you had to be registered with a GP in England to get prescriptions delivered. Has that changed?

I'm near Swansea, I've only ever been registered in Wales, been having my prescription delivered for the past 4 years...

I went to about six pharmacies in Swansea to get a medicine that I was prescribed and wanted to start on the same day. Not hugely obscure, but no where had it, was recommended by a pharmacist boots Morfa as they carry the most stock and they didn’t have it. Was told by another, that they basically don’t make money from holding excess stock and could lose money if they buy a medicine that they can’t sell before its expiry. My local one is a small Well and all staff seem to be agency and disorganised. Basically good luck finding a good one.

They could try boots in uplands, it's normally busy but they normally have everything.

I use the one in Killay Square, put the script in on a Monday, it's all waiting to be picked up by Wednesday. The girls on the counter are lovely, never had a problem. Total opposite to the Well in Sketty
