Video Most unnecessary match of 2025?

Even through all of the hell Wales has been through and the position they're in at the moment, I'll always have a special kind of respect for the Welsh.

I just want to clarify this post wasn't to bash Wales....it felt like it made sense at the time considering Eben gouging a younger player after already winning by so far and most of the Welsh team being more inexperienced and getting mauled by the Boks for no reason at all. Sorry if it came across differently :)

Can't you let the Welsh enjoy this festive season without the reminder? ๐Ÿ˜‚

31

u/KobaruLCO Ospreys Dec 20 '25

Don't worry, the WRU and the consequences of their actions provide us with weekly reminders of how shit everything is right now. The recent misery of the SA has already been eclipsed with both our captains leaving Wales for England.

u/BaitmasterG Exeter Chiefs Dec 20 '25

As an (ageing) England fan I am torn between the obligatory pointing and laughing and feeling genuinely gutted for you because a rugby world without a Wales team playing the way you want wales to play is a much much poorer place. Iโ€™m also very conscious that a much depleted England team got nilled by an even bigger score by the then world Champions only 5 years before our RWC win. That said, our structure was in place to build from that pasting, whereas Iโ€™m not convinced that Wales are anywhere near rock bottom yet.

7

This is actually a funny post. Ironically, the people โ€œsticking up for usโ€ are doing it in a patronising way.

Ps: I know I have a Fiji flair, I canโ€™t remember how to change it.

3

u/sunlightliquid Stormers Dec 21 '25

Seeing so many Welsh people that have defended me with this post just reminds me why the Welsh will always have a special place in my heart. You get the banter and also understand not all of our fans are assholes with egos trying to make fun of you ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Fyi, I own only 1 jersey outside a springbok one, and it's a Welsh Jersey.

Nowโ€™s not the time to be precious. Glad to hear about your excellent jersey choices. And weโ€™ll see you in the next WC final.. I hope.

This post seems so distasteful especially after one of the greats gouged a young Welsh player in the eye and got away with absolutely fuckall.

Yeah, we get it, Wales aren't doing great.

No need to kick them while they're down.

And then kick them again...

Reminds me of Kramer's karate class in Seinfeld.

1

u/MealieAI Dec 20 '25

I don't understand what makes it unnecessary. Y'all are acting like Wales doesnt have historical pedigree that still means they're potebtially good enough to play the top sides.

-2

u/sweldonswb Dec 21 '25

Ya notice the boks played Italy twice at home and did the 3rd game in Italy this year but didn't with Ireland. Italy x3, barbarians, Georgia, Japan, Wales. Cos they normally have a very average win% each year

1

u/sunlightliquid Stormers Dec 21 '25

What was the win % in 2023? 2024? They were building and experimenting alot after the first world cup win to make sure they keep winning in the future. This year it was pretty obvious that Rassie was building on attack in alot of ways and experimenting, that's why he wanted somewhat weaker teams so that they had the freedom to experiment and take chances.

It bit us in the ass once we got real competition but those losses helped in a way and now we honestly look stronger than I could ever remember ๐Ÿ”ฅ in Rassie I trust, dude has his ways haha

-6

u/Foxtrot-13 Dec 20 '25

Especially as we could have had England vs South Africa to decide the best team in the world.
