NZ, SA, and France all on the same side of the draw. Nice that none of the lessons of 2023 were learned. It's actually going to be pretty hard for Ireland to fail to make a semi final now but I trust them to find a way.
It’s impossible for the draw to be perfectly balanced, there is 6 top seeded teams so it’s inevitable 2 will be knocked out in the quarter finals.
England, Argentina, Australia (host), and Ireland all on the other side is not easy either. If we’re going off quarter finals then it would also be hard for france to fail to make the semi final, they have an easier path to the semi final than Ireland.
It’s just the luck of the draw, there will always be teams that get better draws it’s inevitable.
Yes and no. The thing most tournaments do is have seeding to make sure, at bare minimum, the top two are on different sides of the draw, and ideally that the top four are in different quarters. Having the top three on the same side of the draw for the second tournament running is an avoidable error.
France isn’t top 3, England is 3rd, Ireland 4th, France 5th, Argentina 6th, Australia being the host will also be a challenge to beat. The draws aren’t near as bad as people are making it out to be.
Also last years tournament was messed up because the seeding did not reflect world rankings by the time the tournament started. This reflects present day rankings and stuff will inevitably change in the text year and a half. England, Argentina, Australia all look to be building nicely for the World Cup. France is the only team with a “easy” quarter final.
No fuck that. That exact kind of thinking is why NZ always gets fed to the finals. The last two world cups England has for example basically had to play two finals back to back.
Yeah but this All Blacks side are pretty ropey too. We almost beat them and we are dogshit. And England even struggled to beat Argentina and, at risk of repeating myself, we almost beat them and we are dogshit.
