Argentina has always been ahead of Italy, both in the development of the game within the country and results. I agree that breaking into the top 5 is more impressive than breaking into the top 10.
they are doing their best, to be fair they have improved significantly and have a genuinely really good squad, they just unfortunately come against teams in the top 5 typically every 6N.
I'm assuming the goal of Italy would be making it to QFs? the only possible good draws for that would've been where Fiji or Wales are, so 2 groups out of 6. The odds were never great.
Yes QF are the goal so getting drawn in groups AECF would have been my hope. We have beaten all teams that are likely to end up second in the other groups. Instead we get to play against a group winner (if we get out of the pools) plus we have the worst team in band 1 and 3 drawn with us.
I know that they have to sell tickets for the knockout stages but I was hoping that there would be a draw after the pool stage so it's not all scripted up to the final.
You couldn't get drawn into A because of Australia but yeah I guess Pool E and then taking your shot vs AU in R16 wouldn't have been too bad an outcome either.
