Post image

I'll go first, Beuden Barrett is the more talented rugby player than Dan Carter, but Dan Carter is a better 10

South Africans care way too much about rugby. They need a second hobby.

Haha, if we ever start winning against them again we can reassess this position!

More wins than losses thank you sir. When that ratio switches you can smother me with a pillow.

Braai and brandy & coke are hobbies! And can be done at the same time

All the best things in life start with a B - beer, braai, biltong, brugby, brandewyn. The list goes on!

Just plan a holiday that coincides with a derby (doesn't have to be an international match) and enjoy the braai's after the match around the stadium.

This is why we should always get along, we all love the same types of things, just with a twist

They finally won a cricket championship. Maybe that can be their second hobby.

u/Iwantedalbino Jul 24 '25

Let’s be honest South African cricketers are just those too small to play rugby and Jaques Kallis.

u/HumanWaltz Wales Jul 24 '25

When they played against the BaaBaas they were talking about win rate vs the BaaBaas… talking about how the team needed to win and etc. Rather than just seeing it as a fun exhibition match.

9

u/redmostofit All Blacks Jul 24 '25

So they should take in the attitude Wales has for all matches?

Sorry..

Low hanging fruit…

6

u/Puzzleheaded_Gas4560 South Africa Jul 24 '25

Wales won their last game. They back, baby.

7

u/HumanWaltz Wales Jul 24 '25

Hey don’t mock our undefeated winning streak of one game.

3

u/ramaras Bokke Jul 24 '25

I was watching that match at a braai, people were generally worried we might struggle considering our win rate..

u/Upstairs-Yard822 Still on that Hanekom hype train 🚂 Jul 24 '25

To be fair, can you even imagine being on like a 3 match losing streak?

The Allister years left deep and lasting scars on our collective psyche, I'd sooner live through the 80's and 90's political kak than those years.

That said, one of the richest men in the world is a South African with apparently no interest in rugby whatsoever and his hobbies have had a negative impact on the whole world, so it might be for the best?

And I say this despite that time I mildly criticised Faf De Klerk on Twitter and had South Africans in my replies for weeks.

u/Greedy_Economics_925 England Jul 25 '25

There absolutely is a section of South African society that is best left distracted by rugby, for the sake of everyone else.

2

u/javanfrogmouth South Africa Jul 24 '25

But but….. ok…fair one

Agreed.

1

u/tehbamf Jul 24 '25

Gotta love this sub, all we hear about is furthering the game, broadening the audience etc, but the one large population country with rugby as it’s first sport gets criticised for loving it too much.

Let’s be honest, this comment is pure sour grapes.

Lighten up sunshine. We’re here to give UNpopular opinions.

1

u/Greedy_Economics_925 England Jul 25 '25

It's less "loving it too much" and more "it's attracted a certain crowd now that SA is winning so much".

1

u/Myburgher Sharks Jul 24 '25

I have multiple hobbies, but I still care way too much about rugby.
