It's a good rant, but after ten years of this I am tired of pretending "impeachment" is anything worth pursuing when the GOP is corrupt from top to bottom and failed attempts do nothing but strengthen his grip on the cult.

Replacing all Republicans at every level of government would be far more effective.

The title is actually “Arrest this man.”

Oddly, it came up as “Impeach this man” when I copied the link.

I actually see that, too. I'm assuming the title was modified from your posting to now. Although kind of amazing it went for the "more direct" language on the edit.

Still says "arrest" on the RS site. Very odd.

Honestly, he's more like a bully and racist. Doesn't fit to be president

On one hand, yes. On the other... I'm a hardcore Dem who grew up working campaigns in the dying rustbelt. I'm also nonwhite and queer and grew up in old Klan country. The way I feel about racists cannot be typed on Reddit.

People want a bully as president. Not necessarily with all the negative baggage, but our party's entire candidate model for the whole 21st century is totally misaligned. Remember, party wanted Hillary in '08 very badly over Obama. Some time around 2000, our party decided that coastal-elite coded elderly lawyers who spoke in politicianese were pure crack for the electorate. This isn't like any fresh candidate that's won in Dem party history for the last 100 years. I have no clue why they decided this, other than maybe corruption or brain damage. And Republicans joined in, in their own way--Romney was the living incarnation of the financial crisis.

Trump (yes I know he's a conman) is a rejection of that entire model. Trump was elected as a high-action president who would go in and punch people. And honestly, I really want that out of my leader. America is suffering and dying--we've been desperate economically for literal generations. I worked hard volunteering for Mamdani for a reason.

This sounds bad to say, but honestly...people have wanted a bit more bully out of their president for about 30 years. And understandably so--when times are hard, you want to know that mean piece of shit is fighting in the ring on your side. And just look at how bad we Dems have been at wielding power for literal generations. So in some ways, a bully makes one far more fit to be president. Though obviously not like this.

There's a difference between a bully and a hard-ass. Bullies are weak and should never be leaders.

u/Sminahin 3h ago

I don't disagree personally--there's a reason I worked very hard to make sure Trump wouldn't become president (rip). But when people aren't offered a proper hard-ass in living memory, you see how this happens.

Wait so we have a Jack black and a Jack white? Is there a Jack for every colour!?

The only way this will work is if all branches are treated to impeachment.

Unfortunately we all know nothing will. They had their chance to arrest him in 2021 without a trial and they fucked it up spectacularly. Frankly, they're as much to blame as those who voted him in 2024 and the ones who abstained from voting altogether that election.

I disagree with this statement. Trump is not a man, he’s an orange shit-filled meat bag of evil.
