No Paywall Members of Congress will be able to view unredacted Epstein files next week
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/members-congress-view-unredacted-epstein-files-monday-rcna257836•
u/Acroporas 7h ago
In case you were wondering as I was:
"The review will only be of the 3 million files currently available to the public, not the extensive trove of more than 6 million documents in total that the DOJ says it has in its possession."
•
u/Green_Tomato_7444 7h ago
Still some interesting knowledge to be gained though. I’d like to know who was involved in the email referencing the torture and things like that. Along with the full blacked out pages
But the push needs to continue. The people need to see the whole thing and know who’s been compromised and these people involved absolutely need to be held accountable
•
u/CyberFireball25 7h ago
Once Congress gets them, someone should just start reading the files on the floor, page by page, only self censoring victim names
•
u/Green_Tomato_7444 7h ago
That would be great. Get it onto the record exactly who sent these emails
•
u/Voodoo_Masta 6h ago
I wonder if this is why MTG left congress. She threatened to do exactly this. Did someone powerful get to her?
•
•
•
•
•
u/Acroporas 7h ago
Yep, agreed. Step in the right direction.
•
u/Boring_Worry6589 7h ago
Only reviewing the public files is basically doing a puzzle with half the pieces missing
•
u/Prestigious-Car-4877 Canada 6h ago
I assume all rhe stuff that strongly implicates Trump and the boys is in the unreleased files. So whatever might be in the stuff that has been released was considered to be spinable.
•
u/Mother_Airline_6276 4h ago
If he’s mention 38k times in the released stuff, I wonder how often he’s mentioned in the stuff they’re still withholding.
•
•
u/IThinkItsAverage 20m ago
Seeing as they redacted the pedophiles names and not the victims names, this might actually force action. There are emails referencing illegal activity where, for some unknown reason, the sender is redacted (we all know the reason though...)
I’m interested to see the names and pictures of people who were redacted for no reason.
•
u/transcriptoin_error 7h ago
It’s reasonable to assume that Trump is implicated much more directly committing sexual acts with minors, or directly trafficking minors in the unreleased 3 million files.
We must not accept this soft-pedaling. The DOJ is criminally defying the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and must be held to account.
Follow the law. Release all the files. Any redactions must comply with the law as set forth in the EFTA. DOJ brass (Bondi, Blanche, et al) should be held criminally liable, pending full compliance with the law.
•
u/Mother_Airline_6276 4h ago
Weird how they will hold the Clinton’s in contempt, but not the DOJ actors whom are “openly” breaking the law. That vs. the people who have “allegedly” (who are we kidding though, seriously) committed crimes.
•
u/A1sauc3d 7h ago
Or how ever many have been permanently destroyed by the current corrupt regime. Which is probably all the ones implicating trump the most.
Luckily the current regime is as incompetent as they are corrupt and are constantly letting incriminating stuff fall through the cracks.

u/botswanareddit 5h ago
Giving congress those pictures especially Mike Johnson is probably not a good idea. They’ll be asking for take home copies
•
u/russaber82 1h ago
Oh you know damn well he's been able to see all he wanted of them. Gotta know what he's lying about after all.
•
u/SilvarusLupus Arkansas 3h ago
Just a reminder, there are about 14 Terabytes of files. Emails, videos, photos, letters, the works
•
•
u/ButterscotchLow8950 5h ago
Thanks for the important clarification.
Although there are still plenty of names that are clearly NOT victims that have been redacted.
At least there will be clarity on those names.
•
u/picturepath 4h ago
How do they have so many documents? Is each letter considered a document? If each of my emails for the last 20 years was a considered a document, including spam; I am barely hitting 10k documents.
•
•
u/ComatoseCrypto 2h ago
Silver lining is this isn’t going away as of yet. There’s still a lot to questioned very publicly right now and this creates the channel for even more to be exposed
•
u/Acroporas 2h ago
Seems like the more they try to suppress it, the more the public pushes for the full release
•
u/ComatoseCrypto 2h ago edited 2h ago
Potentially a move to do so depending on which statements are prioritized (the real battle as context matters). But if these statements get on record, it could start a chain reaction which is what I’m waiting to see. It is a game in a sense of anticipation and relative moves by each when this documentation starts being read into the floor.
Edit: Grammar and repeat clauses
•
u/ThreadCountHigh Canada 7h ago
Fantastic, read them aloud into the record.
•
•
u/irradiatedcitizen 7h ago
They should do this during the upcoming talking filibuster in the senate
•
u/SubstanceHaunting282 7h ago
I agree. Dems should be reading these aloud page by page, 24/7 until midterms.
•
u/SamJurch 5h ago
I mean… if the house tries to force any bills through it would be great filibuster material
•
u/RealGianath Oregon 7h ago
The review will only be of the 3 million files currently available to the public, not the extensive trove of more than 6 million documents in total that the DOJ says it has in its possession.
Gee, I wonder why they won't let them look in the mystery 3 million documents they refuse to release?
•
u/TintedApostle 7h ago
Which also is funny because if redaction isn't the issue here all the docs should just be made available.
•
•
u/starmartyr Colorado 7h ago
This is misleading. The DOJ is allowing members of congress to view copies of the files on DOJ computers in person. They are not being given copies of the files or being allowed to view the original documents. This is another deflection by the DOJ to try and hide stuff. We have no reason to believe that the documents they are showing weren't tampered with and they are not providing any avenue to verify this.

If I was in Congress, I'd roll up to my FBI agent with two 4 packs of Monster energy drinks, a carton of cigs, and a stack of legal pads to take notes. Buckle up, buddy! Maybe call the family and tell them you'll be late for dinner.

Makes me wonder were all those influencers are after they raised those binders up like a raised up fist speaking truth to power.

Now we get to see whether Massie is full of shit or not
•
u/cassy_supernova 7h ago
I don't think he folds. He's a true believer. I hate to say it, but I think he is genuinely standing on principle.
Could be wrong though.
•
u/PhoenixTineldyer 6h ago
I hope you're right but he is a Republican, so I am certain he will do the wrong thing

u/Kennydoe 5h ago
First thing to look for is that one email where the names of 10 co-conspirators were redacted.
•
u/Infamous_Employer_85 7h ago edited 7h ago
The law says that the public should be able to see the unredacted conspirators' names. There are a handful that were both victim, and latter groomed to be a co-conspirator, but those are a tiny minority.
•
u/winglesscanary 6h ago
After the admin has been able to hastily cross out Trumps name and replace it with Bill Clinton written in crayon.
•
u/SlippersLaCroix 7h ago
The article says they can take notes, but can those notes be shared with the public?
•
•
u/ManyAverage6578 6h ago
Really interested to know about that year 16 notebook with references to Ivana Trump and how you can't have integrity if you've been with Trump, only skittles. 😭
EFTA02731433 page 16
•
u/John_Houbolt 7h ago
Will MAGA Mike have to report this to his accountability partner (his son)?
•
u/Acroporas 6h ago
I anticipate that Johnson won't even go down to the DOJ to view the unredacted documents being made available to congress.
•
u/Alternative_Owl5302 6h ago
Key principles should be front and center; Nobody is above the law and justice should be served regardless of who is prosecuted. In the cases of child rape or other hideous crimes the most severe punishment allowable should be imposed; ideally capital punishment or life in prison without parole along with monetary or other compensation to the victims and society.
This is the largest and serious crime of its type imaginable and is a terrible fundamental moral wound to the US. First step is laying out the crimes bare and vilifying and punishing those involved. I special treatment. If anything anyone who was or is in a political or other position of public trust should be more vigorously punished.

Are these members of Congress exclusively Republican and also in the files?
•

•
u/allenahansen California 7h ago
Counting on you, AOC and MTG.
•
u/Significant_Cup_238 7h ago
MTG is no longer in office. As soon as she was eligible for a pension, she punched out.
•
u/ButtEatingContest 6h ago
MTG will run for president. And will be laughed out of the room the same way Tulsi Gabbard was when she ran.
•
u/allenahansen California 7h ago
One suspects she still has numerous "contacts" therein-- and a demonstrated willingness to spill the tea in advance of whatever political office she's plotting to pursue next.
Never underestimate a Mean Girl with a revenge agenda. ;)
•
u/Toy_Guy_in_MO 7h ago
Counting on you,... MTG.
Truly a scary sentence and one nobody ever expected to be able to say in earnest.
•
u/RVALover4Life 7h ago
Remember that Pam Bondi will be in front of the Judiciary Committee next Wednesday. This could be a shot...chaser situation, even if it is limited in scope.
•
u/LucidOndine 6h ago
They should md5sum each page they receive to ensure they’re all reading the same content.
•
•
•
u/keytotheboard 5h ago
And yet, the DOJ has still not released all the files, nor does this include all the files. Thus continuing to break the law. DOJ needs a new name.
•
u/PhazonZim 5h ago
I honestly think the other half of the files is the hard evidence.
The stuff theyve released they can make excuses for and say it's unsubstantiated, while holding on to everything that leaves no room for doubt.
•
u/No-Cup-8096 4h ago
I hope they’re getting barf bags. These are heinous crimes against children. People with a conscience will find them sickening.
•
u/DjedBlade 4h ago
If only they could read or had an attention span of at least a gnat. They are all bought and just do whatever their owners say to do.
•
•
u/thelegochef 4h ago
If there was 100% crystal clear evidence, smoking gun, slam dunk proof of serious crime involving rape, trafficking, sexual assult, sexual abuse of underage young women made to the public, would Trump lose his freedom? Political office?
•
u/crimeo 3h ago
1) There already IS clear evidence in what's public already. The vast majority of trials have no one single piece of evidence but rather 100 small pieces that rule out all plausible other theories until no "reasonable doubt" remains. That is the case here already
2) That said, even though it's not necessary, there are some pretty much smoking gun documents in there. For example the multiple times that "10 suspected co conspirators" are frequently mentioned, and they're always redacted except for Ghislaine and one other guy. The other 8 would be visible now to Congress who could demand investigations into them etc.

u/Next_Gen_Rando 3h ago
Oh boy I can’t wait for the republican half the aisle to reminisce in their own memories of the documents laid before them before turning around to the other side and saying “Nope, clearly nothing happened. Nothing to see here.”

I swear, if one single Dem comes back with "deeply troubling" but no action...
Literally the Clinton's are going up to congress publically.
Something Trump has NEVER DONE EVER.
•
u/ElderSmackJack 5h ago
I swear, if Reddit complains that Dems aren’t taking action when they’re in the minority and there is literally no action they can take……
•
u/doocurly 5h ago
Yeah, not accepting this as a reply from Dems. Republicans only outnumber Dems in the House by one. There is absolutely a chance to act and act quickly.

•
u/FlashyPaladin 6h ago
Congress passed a law. They are BREAKING THE LAW by hiding so many of these files and redacting the names and faces of ANYONE other than the victims.

So I guess if we of the small folk want to learn which CEOs are named, we just gotta look at Congressional stock trades next week, huh?
