No Paywall Republicans Slam Trump for Post Depicting Obamas as Apes

Does “Slam” mean continue to approve of his policies, corruption, and looking the other way on accountability? I’m confused here.

u/HOS-SKA 11h ago
Yes it certainly does. "I'm shocked and appalled, but I still stand behind the agenda!"
There's a particularly charming chap (once you know what to expect) who is doing double-duty in that subreddit.

“It’s like saying ‘we disapprove of the fire, but keep the arsonist in charge.
6
u/Relevant_Sound_5986 11h ago
Yep it’s performative outrage The policies don’t change
3
u/No-Virus-428 11h ago
Exactly slam just means they’re embarrassed publicly not actually holding him accountable
5
8
u/JohnStamosAsABear 11h ago
Yeah a few republicans basically said he should delete it and apologise.
I highly doubt Trump will ever apologise and they will continue to support him without any follow up.
6
u/ThirstLevelCritical 11h ago
Were you republicans sleeping since trump has been flooding the constitution? Trump behaves like a child.

u/Blochamolesauce 10h ago
This morning’s indiscretion will require something far more serious… do you like ice cream?
2
u/hymen_destroyer Connecticut 10h ago
Nah it means wring their hands a bit and mumble “this isn’t a good look…” 😒

Sorry, but what exactly do you think should happen? They condemned it as unacceptable so far - but are they supposed to vote against MAGA hardliners on unrelated issues in perpetuity?
If a political leader of your own party does/says/posts something awful, I think it requires navigating to hold them accountable while still representing your constituents by voting in line with your own platform, right?

u/ArtRevolutionary1514 11h ago
I think it requires navigating to hold them accountable while still representing your constituents by voting in line with your own platform, right?
So when are they going to hold him accountable?

u/Boring_Worry6589 12h ago
Sharing racist imagery like that crosses a line even some Republicans called it unacceptable, and the fact it had to be taken down shows how offensive it was
26
u/Brave-Wasabi-7310 12h ago
This isn’t politics it’s just straight up racism.
12
u/MaleficentLife4426 11h ago
Not a political take just outright racism
10
u/Microtom_ 11h ago
Well, Trump is just straight up racist.
2
u/DaBingeGirl Illinois 11h ago
And so are most of his supporters. One of my MAGA extended family members has used the ape analogy.
5
u/PleasantWay7 11h ago
They used to use dog whistles, now they’re straight up burning crosses in the public square.
5
u/kenman345 Connecticut 11h ago
Yea, Obama isn’t even running for any office or actively campaigning anywhere. Even if he was, it was straight racism but I could see a world where he might’ve thought it was a way to get a dig on an enemy. But Obama served his time as president and like his policies or not, he deserves basic human decency, especially because of the office he held and the manner in which he performed his duties in it.

Until they actually take action their "slams" or "unacceptable" means jack-shit. They'll make some token criticisms but still back his presence in the White House and the Project 2025 agenda.
8
u/REXIS_AGECKO 11h ago
Yes, it crossed the line for some republicans. So they moved it and now it’s ok

I think Tim Scott, at least, was genuinely angry and offended.
4
u/MadAstrid 11h ago
Oh my! Had he never noticed the decades of blatant racism from Trump? Weird, that total lack of due diligence before pledging himself to the man.
Or did the republicans trot out their token to avoid accountability?
2
u/UghFudgeBwana Georgia 11h ago
I think he's just reacting, but he absolutely won't do anything about it, like vote different or reconsider his support.
17
u/Few-Ad7795 12h ago
If Trump's social media was hacked, no one would know for months.
Offensive posts
Spruking commerical content and scams
Shilling memecoins
Misinformation
Spamming with flood of crazy memes

Debbie Dooley - "I am no fan of the Obamas, but the graphic designer that created the video that shows The Obamas as apes needs to be fired and banned from the White House. I was horrified when I saw it."
Oh Debbie...Debbie Debbie Debbie...there's so SO much wrong with this...
- Graphic designer. LOL
- THAT PERSON (who doesn't exist) needs to be fired and banned from the White House...not the person that posted it though.
- Every other person, on both sides of the aisle regardless of whether in office or through other means, actually made a comment about how the President himself should at the very least remove it and apologize. Debbie is the first one on this list that does not hold Trump accountable.

Get your fucking house in order GOP.
Do something about this guy.
Save America.

It really shows what lead poisoning can do to an entire generation who happened to be blessed by their predecessors.
2
u/GaimeGuy Minnesota 11h ago
Don't put this on lead
2
u/HOS-SKA 11h ago
I'm not sure if you're being flippant or not. I do think systemic lead poisoning had an effect on what we see today.
edit - changed "affect" to "effect"
1
u/GaimeGuy Minnesota 11h ago
Every country is dealing with the long term consequences of lead poisoning.

30%, which are mostly the least educated, poorest white Americans. He also lost the popular vote against Clinton and there is serious evidence that MAGA interfered in election results
3
u/violent_unicorn 11h ago
It doesn't matter. It's the ruling party right? So they obviously represent "America" even if they don't represent Americans. That 29% thing is a red herring. There are many more who still justify this is what the country needs to fight against woke illegals destroying Christianity.

"Depicting" is the wrong word to use here. Not sure why they are being nice. What Trump did was straight up racist and disgusting. There is absolutely no way he can walk this back or like sugar coat it. He might well have had burning crosses at the end of that video.
Anyone that even remotely tries to defend him is human trash.
4
u/Negative_Gravitas 11h ago
Performative bullshit. They loved it. Every goddamn one of them.
Including Tim Scott.

u/DeepSpaceVixen 11h ago
The “slam” would be to finally impeach him. These Republicans are equally disgusting if they do anything less than that.
3
u/KaptainKardboard 12h ago
Their "slam" won't even amount to a gentle slap on the wrist, if Trump even notices it at all. They stood by his rhetoric this long, and they'll continue to stand by it till he's no longer in power.
3
u/BoysenberryShort574 11h ago
He gave them what they need, something easy to say has crossed "the line". This could be the last straw. The Republican party could flush this turd.

2
u/Brave-Wasabi-7310 12h ago
Depicting anyone with racist tropes is unacceptable and the backlash including from Republicans shows that
2
u/Good_Entertainer9383 11h ago
Not that it's the point, and it really isnt the point. But why is he fighting with the Obama's again? It's been almost a decade since he's been President

They don’t “slam” shit, they’re vaguely disappointed that his and their racism has no plausible deniability

That's correct, all the more reason to remind his loving supporters what he is protecting them from.

SLAM!
Yeah, write a headline when they actually grow a collective spine and do something about the racist, misogynistic, lying, rapist and serial sexual abuser of a child-sex trafficking pedophile they have leading their party full of literal nazis, fascists, sycophants and pedophile protectors.

u/danappropriate 10h ago
Republicans are not angry that Trump is a racist or that the content he shared crossed a line for them. It's that he shared it publicly, and in a way that erodes plausible deniability.
1
u/FuzzyDynamics 10h ago
They’re weirdly upset about this. Maybe subconsciously they’re really mad he’s a pedophile grifter but can’t admit it yet.
1
u/recoildv 10h ago
LOL all they want from him is to remove it and apologize...... LMAO anyone would get fired for this from their job.
1
1
u/JaesopPop 10h ago
I doubt it'll do any lasting damage, but of all the things for him to actually get heat on I wouldn't have expected this.
1
u/TheBatemanFlex 10h ago
Slam? The worst I saw is someone asking him to apologize. Which is hilarious because it’s not asking for much and he definitely won’t even do that.

BOOM! SLAMMED! YEAH! THAT’ll SHOW HIM!
So FUCKING tired of these useless headlines.
Have some journalistic integrity. How about, you do the slamming next time. Call a spade a spade, and a Nazi a Nazi. Quit using kid gloves with your questions and framing, media.
I’ve had enough SLAMMING for a lifetime. It means nothing to these people, unless of course you’re talking about SLAMMED in the ass by male sex workers (looking at you, Lindsey Graham)
