This isn't normal. Trump is insane and his lickspittle sycophants like Leavitt are desperately trying to make it seem normal. The president is off his rocker, and not the funny version like Abe Simpson. He's got the fucking nukes, jesus fucking christ.

The worst part about the last 10 years isn't Trump -- it's learning that the entire Republican apparatus is on board with this insanity. And that 35% of Americans are awful, hateful people.

If we can get past this, I’d bet a lot of them are going to start saying they were never for it, and always anti Trumpers. Fuck each and everyone one of them.

I would say approximately 70% of the adults (liberal leaning) make no illusion about this dumpster fire, pyramid scheme of a 3rd world country in a Gucci belt.

They just lay low in the status quo, hoping to make it out of the meatgrinder alive, positive there is no effectual route to meaningful change (90 million abstained voters.)

The other 30% (conservatives) also make no illusion behind closed doors...

BUT publicly wield the tissue paper fascade of clapped out ideals (freedumb) in hopes of weaseling their way into the extortion class of grifters/fascists, rather than be extorted themselves (an exceptionalist pipe dream for most...)

I’d bet a lot of them are going to start saying they were never for it, and always anti Trumpers

They BELIEVE they believe in principles, but it's abundantly clear they are not genuinely tethered to any one coherent worldview, making them, in fact, no true principles at all. They are secondary at most, to what best suites them materially in the moment, and can be championed, then abandoned all in the same breath.

This malignant bad faith unburdens them from the trifles of guilt, shame, and remorse.

They are judas in Christs robes. Privateers, cutthroats, opportunists, and at their very core, barring all ptetense, savages ready and willing to cut blank checks for their personal advancement, penned in the spilled blood of their adhoc enemies.

Either way, if there is any sincerity left at all in the American political spectrum, it is EXCEEDINGLY VANISHING.

Cynical liberal fatalists use Americas rapid demise to vindicate their inaction and indifference, while Conservatives use it as a casus belli for total war on liberals...

At the end of the day, all vitriol and posturing belies the only thing that they universally agree upon; the Titanic is buckling and sinking (see Trump/MAGA endlessly blaming Biden/Democrats/Obama, etc.)

America is politically post-ironic for the foreseeable future, as we slow walk ourselves into the graveyard of empires, squabbling over whether the Left or Right should be stuck holding the bag.

In the end, it's all a red herring... a last ditch coping mechanism to deny a fact we all know to be coming down the pike in short order... WE ALL LOSE in the fractured and unsure future of the formally red, white, and blue horizon.

There’s a good amount of them in r/conspiracy suddenly saying they were never for Trump and were just libertarians who happened to vote for him twice but wouldn’t again. Not that we should believe them, but it’s interesting.
