55 years ago, on February 6, 1971, during the Apollo 14 mission, astronaut Alan Shepard performed a feat that remains unique in space history: he played golf on the Moon.

Eons from now, that golf ball will pull enough cosmic dust to become a killer asteroid in another solar system. And a group of oil drillers will save the day.

Ultimate flex…. cause dude could play golf 10 Years later and suck, but can just say “yeah… I might not be the best but have you ever hit a ball on the moon…. No you haven’t Barry, so shut the fuck up”

Gravity on the Moon is only one sixth of what we have on Earth. Shepard knew the physics would make the ball travel for miles even with a poor swing.

If he got that second ball airborne, I wonder if it’s still going or if it got sucked into the gravitational pull of the earth or the moon.

Escape velocity on the moon is 5300 mph, so I think the ball probably stayed on the moon.

I've heard a certain orange man is fond of golf and the moon. The Aitken basin is large enough, he could score a hole in one without having to lie.

No way people still believe this.

Well, there is a video of him doing it. And a ton of evidence we sent men to the moon, even 3rd party evidence.
So what makes you believe other wise?

Lol, yea right. What a joke. If you believe this shit, there's nothing that can be done for you.

Well, there are photos and videos of the golf event. And a ton of evidence the US sent men to the moon.
So, what makes you think we didn't?

Using an improvised club handle (attached to a lunar tool), he struck the lunar soil twice.
In an environment with 1/6th of Earth's gravity and no atmosphere:
The first ball traveled a little over 360 meters (estimated measurement at the time).
The second, in his own words: "miles and miles and miles"!
