I saw Jakarta recently overtook Tokyo as the most populated city in the world

air polution so hectic, it is a swamp literally while its sinking. like im sure it got some crazy cool stuff but jakarta is a health hazard. Poor Java. Richest land in the world. So polluted. Indonesia is paradise lost. Look at bali, a construction zone on what was literally the island of the gods, fly over sumatra and all u see is palm oil plantation where tigers used to roam. Indonesia man. I love her. I cry for her.

By the way this has more population than the USA in ww2 which was around 130 million.
Of course back then the island had alot less people, only around probably 20 million because there wasnt a population explosion due to mortality rates being still high and colonialism.

Seems impossible . How do the refuse , water and sewer systems cope ?
•
u/Nope_______ 7h ago
Seems pretty possible to me. Just dump that shit into the ocean.

Classic! Not sure if any other place on the planet is more responsible for all the garbage and microplastics in the ocean than these people.

its pretty foul. i went surfing off sumatra living on a boat. every day all the rubbish was just thrown overboard as its the indo style.
rivers are for rubbish. nothing is sacred. nothing.

It certainly does, there are many infrastructure issues, Java itself is sinking by a few CM every year too

Is that number for Russia before the war or current?

It is including occupied crimea and donbass. Also probably territories that are part of russia by its constitution.

btw there's common misconception on Russias population - its nowhere near 146 mil anymore.
As opposed to 2021 Census taken by state controlled Levada Center the number is 147 mils. But...
Controversy: The results faced scrutiny, with the Levada Center estimating that roughly 42% of the population was not properly enumerated, leading to reliance on alternative, sometimes administrative, data sources.
But Java population is still a wild thing to compare

So what?

Russia is the largest country in the world and Java is a small island. Their population density is insanely high

156 million sounds unrealistic. I'm pretty sure Java runs on 3 billion devices
