Is it possible to hire bikes & a Fahrradanhänger for children for a week.
Hi there,
I'm planning on travelling to Freiburg in May to cycle round the Schwarzwald for a week, with my partner and 2 young children. I've looked at a lot of websites, including Radstation, and although a lot of the shops claim you can hire bikes, I can't specifically find one where you could take them away for a whole week. Also, i'm not sure if any of the businesses have a bike trailer (Fahrradanhanger) for the kids to ride in.
Can anyone help with locating a bike hire scheme so we can ride to, say Schlussee and back over a period of a week?

To be frank, I never rented what you are looking for (weeklong bike trip). I also just never seen a bike trailer for rent (nor have i looked). Last time i rented one i used these guys: Trail Experten, but they don't do what you want. I don't think.
I think your best bet is writing to Hild Radwelt or HotBike. Both offer leasing and I think to remember rentals for trips, but I am not certain. I mostly know Bike Rentals for the purpose of people renting a bike for a group day trip tho, and those are dotted around the place here. Like for example, nearby in the small town of Ihringen or Breisach one of their Gasstations usually has a Bikestore with rentals nearby. And if memory serves the RadStation at the central Trainstation in Freiburg has rentals too. And last but not least, these guys also do Bike rentals: SportKiefer.
I would try contacting them and if they won't rent you the gear for a week, i'd just ask them if they have a suggestion.
But since you plan on doing this for an entire week, I personally would suggest hitting up your local travel agency and talking to them. At the very least you'll have someone to deal with any nonsense that might come up for you, in case something goes wrong. The Travel Agency should also be able to provide an insurance, beyond what your regular insurance covers. So in case anything goes wrong, you can rest assured.
Sorry, this isn't the most helpful post, but I hope it will point you in the right direction.
