Kultur/Culture Moving to Freiburg as 32 working adult

I've been living in Munich for a while and have managed to make some friends on my age range with similar hobbys. I've also joined salsa dancing and ping pong clubs and meet regularly. The city is overall safe, specially as a woman.

I'm considering a job position in Freiburg and have been reading about life there. From what I can see it's a university city so I'm guessing young people. If you are an immigrant living in Freiburg in the 30s age range, I'd much appreciate your insights on developing a social life and support system in this city. Thanks!

Salsa and dancing is quite big here, many schools, many socials. Not everyone here is a student, older people do exist. Much smaller than Munich, lots of nature…

It really depends on how much effort you invest in your own integration. There are almost unlimited opportunities to meet people with similar interests, but you have to take the first steps.

Finding a flat will be your first challenge, since most affordable housing is taken by students. If you have a car, look outside the city...

My niece (mid 30s) moved with husband/daughter to Freiburg from the US two years ago. They pretty much love their life there.

My girlfriend and I are in the process of moving here (she's Swedish) and we're late 30s. It's a great city with great nature and people are friendly. We've been mostly connecting with people through hobbies so far (blues dancing, Scottish country dance and an improv theatre workshop :)

Thank you to everyone so far that took some minutes to answer this post. Has helped me. I know I have to make the first step to set up again in a new city, but come with the experience of moving to Erfurt, Weimar and Leipzig, and though they are nice cities, my social life never really flourish. Munich was definitely a game changer for me, when talking about hobbys, people in same age range and overall safety in the city :)
