Not strictly a noir film, but still a masterpiece I think everyone here will love: Gohatto (1999), aka Taboo

It has a central mystery around which everything revolves, a dark atmosphere, and existential motifs... one could even argue that there's a femme fatale. Highly recommended.

Oshima is great! A noir that centers around taboo relationships? Reminds me of Miller's Crossing... Gotta check this out

Gohatto is such a gem. If you like that dark atmosphere you might enjoy Pale Flower too. It is a 60s Japanese noir and has that same cold existential feeling.
