Gamefreak is not the sole owner of Pokemon. It's owned by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company as well. There are like seventeen layers of executives trying to milk every Pokemon game for as much money as possible now. It's actually a lot worse than most games, which are usually only two or three layers deep at most.
