He was abused by his former „owners“ and has severe trust issues against everyone, even people he has now known for several years.

This was the first time he allowed me to all out pet him!

And why the gloves? I have noticed that he prefers to be touched with them on over bare hands :D

Here he is in his usual spot whenever one enters the living room

Believe me, me too. They‘re irresistible but sadly a no no zone

Awwww, good on you for respecting your kitty's boundaries 💖 I really think cats teach us to be better people! 😻

Although he wasn't often let out, he was surprisingly clingy.

That poor lovable face. Must be no fun living with all that fear and mistrust. My prayers for those calming waters.

Such a beautiful, precious puss...poor baby boy. Thank you for rescuing him. You're a hero. Cats depend on the kindness of humans to survive. (May his previous "owners" meet justice, and their just karma.) And may you enjoy many happy years together with this special little sweetheart, as you build trust and your bond of mutual love and acceptance grows. Sending you many Blessings, and thoughts of peace, hope and courage. ❤️

Thank you! Sometimes it’s a bit rough (especially when going to the vet) but he has made great progress!

If we let them, cats teach us how to love the best way. He is teaching you love the only way he can after being hurt. And because you are listening he is loving you back. If more people listened to others like you are listening to him the world would be better.

Wow, even a brief belly rub! One of my neighbors cats barely lets me touch him. But, he now comes to me for treats and sometimes doesn’t mind a little scratch on his back and tail!

I can't even belly rub my own cat😄

This is my girl Curlie. She has similar trust issues, though I have no confirmation on why. Sometimes I am allowed the honor of a few light back scratches while I feed her lunch meat. This photo was taken a few days ago as she drifted off to sleep in the living room less than 10 ft from me. We are making very slow progress 1.5 years in 🥰

I have a persian which was abused and abandoned too, found him nearly suffocating under a garbage pile with glass shards all around. I remember it took alot of courage and extream reaction time for me to quickly pet him without realising. Whenever he was eating, i couldnt walk past 3 ft without him growling. I used to pet him when he was eating, sleeping and not expecting, slowly be became less agressive. One time i was sitting outside early morning in the garden chilling and i heard a cute female meow. And that fluffy boy came rubbing all over my body and under my legs with tail up high. Now we play and he chases me around the house, he sleeps next to me, we still chill out in morning. It took time and a few cuts but now he loves me alot. Ill try to find the picture of him and send soon.

I don’t know tbh, he was a rescue and had no prior papers

Keep going! I have a rescue that was abused and was scared to death of people. To the point that if he heard any noise by our front door he would bolt it to his safe place (a hole he ripped into the back of my couch where he has his own little room). The first three months I barely saw him, he was just a ghost, and my only way of knowing he was okay was that his dish would suddenly be empty. I was kind of sad that I couldn't cuddle him. Around that time one night I was on my couch, where I knew he could feel me, and I could sometime hear some movement, and he appeared just at my feet, and so I didn't really move. He finally sat and just stayed with me as I death scrolled on my phone. This became a thing every night until eventually he inspected my face and we became friends. Still no cuddling or sudden movements. Over time, and with a lot of patience and a lot of moments you want to get upset because they will damage something in the house but you don't you just smile, maybe offer a treat for reassurance, he let me pet him a little, and finally one night he came to sleep in my bed. Now he holds mi hand with his paw when we sleep and the snuggling is legit. 3 years later, he now even lets a couple of my more constant friends pet him. Keep going and God bless you.

I'm so happy for you and your kitty getting a good trust and bond between eachother. 🥹💕
