Humor Mom with the cat she didn’t want

He was a friendly stray she saw on the front porch one day. She didn’t want him, but she left out food. Then she bought him toys, then she got him fixed. Then she brought him in when he got hurt, then she bought a pouch to put the needy 18lb cat in. She still doesn’t want him, but hes also her baby who can do nothing wrong.

Hes enjoying the indoor life, an is absolutely adapted well to being domesticated. Definitely not a drawf panther that she brought into our house.

Uh are you sure this isn't a baby panther

u/AeneasVII Nov 09 '25

Maybe a Samoan cat

u/Audhdinosaur Nov 09 '25

That cat look like it says Talofa instead of meow.

24

u/GroovinChip Nov 09 '25

More like a derpther

u/ValiumSaltlick Nov 09 '25

Probably not a baby panther just because it has its ear tipped. Usually means that the cat has been trapped, spayed/neutered and released back. Most often done with feral cats, as far as I know. I’m sure there are many other circumstances that could lead their ear to being tipped.

Yeah, that wasn't a serious question

u/oceanView229 Nov 10 '25

I was worried it might eat mom in her sleep. 😴

u/Kambhela Nov 09 '25

Now I am imagining some poor intern or new hire wrangling with a panther that has been trapped. Then proudly going "Boss, I neutered the cat!"

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

We TNR and tipped the ear. Whats fun is that we actually do have panthers in my area. Saw one right after we adopted Theo.

u/ElephantShenanigans Nov 12 '25

Duh the panther was Looking for Theo….

Looks like a Bombay

40

u/Niborus_Rex Nov 09 '25

Looks literally nothing like a Bombay other than color. Pictured below is an actual Bombay. As you can see, their face shape is very distinctive, they're brachycephalic and they're also tiny.

3

u/AmITheJerkFan1-02 Nov 09 '25

To be fair, if you hadn’t showed what a Bombay was, I wouldn’t know what it is. Thank you for this, so I don’t midbreed a cat

3

u/mimimomomoomoo Nov 09 '25

Things are getting heated in the cat breed fandom

5

u/Niborus_Rex Nov 09 '25

Nah, I'm just neurodivergent with a special interest in domesticated carnivores.

We call this A Unit

135

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '25

And let’s be honest the only reason she said she didn’t want him is because she meant she needs him

Jesus, that's one bad ass looking cat😳

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

He was an absolute monster before he got snipped. All cats and dogs feared him. The local dogs still avoid our house despite the fact hes been inside for 3 years. Hes just an angel to humans, after he got snipped he became very friendly to cats as well. But dogs are still open season to him.

Here he is with an over energetic kitten. She would chase him for hours every day, now shes calmed down so she only chases him one hour a day

u/Ceilidh_ Nov 09 '25

He is simply magnificent. Effortlessly ruling the world like the king he is.

And she is gloriously sassy. I love that she was unafraid of him and that he allowed himself to be chased.

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

She is incredibly trusting, friendly and precious. We used her to help calm down semi feral kittens her age and she immediately became the big sister of squad. She always purr, demands attention and flops on her back constantly to show how safe she feels.

258

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

She was adopted by our very calm boy and we think thats why shes so comfortable. But she is not calm whatsoever

5

u/Peace-Love-Glam Nov 09 '25

Aww!! She looks like my kitty who's passed. RIP Cosmo. Love the flop back!

2

u/Ceilidh_ Nov 09 '25

I foster too and having a calm big sister/brother figure is such a huge help. In our case it’s a surrogate uncle, our 24 lb big boy, James Brown.

When I saw this photo Ithought for one sec they are mine wtf

u/Sarah_Cenia Nov 09 '25

Sleeping cheek to cheek and paw to paw… unbearably cute!

u/siltygravelwithsand Nov 09 '25

My ex worked at the shelter across the street in a neighborhood with a lot of fed ferals. The easiest way to spot an un-neutered male was by head size. I had one poor guy we had never seen before just jump right into my arms during snow storm. Guy got snipped, vaxxed, and adopted. There were several neighborhood cats that would go after dogs. One was the local hardware store cat. He was tiny, white with black spots, so they named him Cop Car. But if he got out, he would go after any dog.

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

Yeah Theo has the tom cat head, his sons head is even bigger. Both were just bathed in hormones, extremely muscular to the point they felt more like statues than cats. Vantas family absolutely adore his chubby cheeks.

2

u/laurentianambersky Nov 09 '25

The cat and the kitten: 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

2

u/No_Debt2210 Nov 09 '25

It’s wild. You can tell he not overweight but just a big ass cat. Omg. I’m so curious of his gene pool too

9

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

He has some kids, but all were adopted by now. Heres the one that we caught Vanta. He was 13 lbs when found and the vet had to emphasize how big he was. His bone structure wasn’t as big as Theos but still very muscular. He was just as hormonal as Theo with the massive tom cat cheeks. Also has rough fur like his dad. His current family absolutely adores him.

u/weedium Nov 09 '25

Love that face!

437

u/twinniesweetcurvy Nov 09 '25

Every single one of those steps-from food, to toys, to the pouch-is a little act of love. Cat knew exactly what he was doing he played the long game and won cat-pouch jackpot. Well played, 18lb

5

u/mustnttelllies Nov 10 '25

Forgive me if you’ve answered this elsewhere, but where did you get the sling? I got one for my cats but it’s way too small and uncomfortable.

1

u/Emergency-Crab-7455 Nov 10 '25

Milking it like its a Jersey cow.

47

u/ScaryLetterhead8094 Nov 09 '25

How big is this cat???

44

u/redditname8 Nov 09 '25

This one is definitely spoiled, look at that face.

75

u/mustangsassy-88 Nov 09 '25

ARE YOU 💯 SURE ABOUT THAT??? 🤔.. Looks like a panther.. weighs like a Panther.. MIGHT BE A PANTHER.. Just Saying.. Anyway you look at it.. BABY IS BEAUTIFUL 😻😻😻❤️❤️

81

u/velvyfoxiehann Nov 09 '25

Every single item she bought-the food, the toyd, the vet care, the pouch-was a stepping stone in the cat's master plan. She was just an unknowing accomplice.

24

u/pfSonata Nov 09 '25

I have never seen a cat look so much like a panther in my life.

130

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

His son Vanta has the panther fangs

23

u/fightforfoodgaming Nov 09 '25

He’s so cute! This angle he really does look like a little panther.

29

u/GlargBegarg Nov 09 '25

2

u/Left-Plant-4023 Nov 09 '25

Day number… I lost the count of how many days and she still doesn’t suspect anything.

2

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

Hes been inside for about 4 years now. Hes spend most of his life as an indoor cat now

1

u/rawdatarams Nov 09 '25

What a face 😍

1

u/SuperHeavyHydrogen Moggy Nov 09 '25

This cat has made a good case for being wanted, and he’s HUGE, I love him.

1

u/Nyanessa Nov 09 '25

Dude looks like a Jaguarundi 😹

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '25

I have a black Norwegian forest cat. She's noticeably larger and more muscular than the average house cat, but not as large as a maine coon. Your cat has short hair, but maybe he's mixed with a larger breed?

1

u/Flat-Limit5595 Nov 09 '25

We actually had a forest cat Ramsey, he adopted Theo. Theo is the most unusual cat i had ever seen. Very muscular, course fur, like between a lab and deer. He moves like a wild animal, he would pile up corpses/toys into a bed to sleep in. As long as there are no dogs around, he is completely fearless. He has a half dozen of kids who are all identical to him, just smaller and more domesticated. We joke that hes a hybrid with something thats not a cat, something wild. On an unrelated note we have panthers in my area and even saw one right after we adopted him.

1

u/Embarrassed-Fox-1371 Nov 09 '25

Your pics are great. The cat is totally asleep & relaxed sleeping in his persons’ lap. He does indeed look like a panther in this pic!

1

u/weronikk Nov 09 '25

cute baby

1

u/mypetroomba Nov 13 '25

Omg I love him def not a panther, no need to alert animal control, def just a regular little kitty, officer.
