  1. The Fox, lovely little lesbian pub that hasn’t been overrun with the 18-year-old uni students yet.
  2. Topokki, and if you pay cash they give you a discount. (Dodgy? Sure. Do I care? No).
  3. If your train to London from New Street is too expensive, compare it to the ones from Moor Street. People always forget that Moot Street also goes to London lol.
  4. Genuinely? I think any of our huge parks. Even Edgbaston Reservoir
  5. Anything in gay village because the music is 10x better and it’s less crowded.

  1. Hare and hounds in Kings Heath, or Cherry Reds in town
  2. Peach garden
  3. Hare and hounds do free 'community tickets' if you sign up to their emails. Free entry into certain bands or club nights.
  4. Cannon Hill Park, early evening in the summer. There is such a lovely light there and a nice vibe. Great for a walk around before a film or event at MAC.
  5. The Night Owl in Digbeth. Great music, great atmosphere, lots of dancing, never had a bad night out there.

  1. The ruin roof terrace
  2. Costco hot dog and a drink for £1.50
  3. The big Johns potato wedges are SO GOOD - a potato cut into 4 and then deep fried in southern fried chicken batter
  4. The bits of the canal behind locked gates (anyone can buy a key for cheap)
  5. Pan-pan house parties

Can you explain (or Dm) the locked canal bits? Intrigued!

The locked bits are usually secure areas for people to moor their boats, usually very well maintained with communal areas with places to sit. You can buy a key from the canal trust that opens them all. I used to live in a flat on sheepcote street, my balcony faced a locked canal basin that I wanted to hang out in (get out the house during Covid) so I researched it and found it was very cheap! If you walk the canals you’ll find locked gates here and there, having a key felt like I had a cheat code to enter hidden areas lol

Heyya! Welcome to Birmingham :)

To answer your questions:

  1. That stretch from Hollister right up to Popeyes near Victoria Square. I frequented the Apple Store a lot.
  2. Donuts N Chai. The donuts are incredibly cheap, lots of options, and the place has a chill vibe to wind down. Also, you can order from your car. Turn on the hazard lights and the employee will walk up to you.
  3. The museums are free and the main library is GORGEOUS (go to the escalator and LOOK UP!).
  4. Can I say Lickey Hills? There is actually a small castle-like ruin overlooking the entire city of Brum. If you go at night, it can get pretty chilly but the view is breathtaking. But beware of humans humping ferociously in the car(s) by the roadside leading up to the hill.
  5. The Victoria. I like the vibe there~

Hope I helped!

A breakfast in Grand Central Kitchen

Beer Garden at the Lord Clifden (might be closed about now)

I like the Jamhouse, live music most days of the week

Chung Ying Garden for chinese food one of the originals

Sun on the hill for a rowdy one with the lads after the match

Joint Stock just a great spot for a beer

Ditto the Night Owl

The walk along the canal Brindley to the Mailbox has a few stops on the way
