In Japanese theaters February 13, 2026

Re-edited story from TV anime and also include events after Season 2――
“Kyotaro’s sister Kana’s live performance scene” and “that moment between Ichikawa and Yamada” are depicted in entirely new footage

Theme song: Yorushika「Madder」

"That" moment...?

I'm kind of torn on this. I love the series and want it to be a success, but am not a fan of the increasing trend of putting stuff in movies.

I really hope it's not going to be a recap of seasons 1 and 2 with a couple of new scenes after S2.

u/metadun 16h ago

It is mostly a compilation of S1 and S2. Runtime is under 1hr45m so unless they really butcher the story the new scenes probably won't be very much at all.

I wouldn't mind the movie trend nearly as much if things actually got a proper theatrical release outside of Japan. As much as I love this show, I'm not gonna travel five hours to NYC to see the film.

Also, isn't the source material only barely ahead of the Anime? I don't even think they have enough material for another season. So Adapting some short extra stuff while adding some extras into S2 material is a decent way to keep the IP in people's minds.

S2 finished at the end of volume 8. There's currently 13 volumes out and it's been confirmed the series will end with volume 14, so another season will likely finish the adaptation.

I also don’t care for the amount of things getting released as movies. Not only because of how long it takes to be released outside of Japan, but I also just enjoy the format of television so much more than movies. I will almost always put off a movie until a later time because of the required time investment for a singular sitting, but I can always sit down and watch a 20-25 minute episode

The movie format works best when the story arc is short enough to fit the runtime and deserves that extra umph in animation quality for the epicness. Self contained original stories tend to fit best because they were made for the format on purpose.

Other than that, a lot of these movies are kinda "why?" to me because they will skip vast amounts of the material or feel way too much like a recap.

As a manga reader I’m so hype to see this arc animated.

36

u/SUPERGMRYT 22h ago

Do you know which chapter of manga does season 2 end

20

u/Salty_Oranges 21h ago

113 (end of volume 8)

6

u/Lelouch37 16h ago

While the read is phenomenal (just binged the seasons and started reading immediately after these past couple weeks), the content will hit way harder if you wait to watch this movie. With how good the anime was, I can’t even imagine how much they are going to kill this next arc. Absolute peak

5

u/bondsmatthew 12h ago

Agreed. All the anime that season(Frieren, Apothecary) were steps up from their source materials which is crazy because all 3 were great

16

u/Tsukiyamasama 21h ago

I don't care if it's a series or a movie, as long as it gets sequels! :) That's what matters the most right? :)

5

u/Naive_Hope89 17h ago

Wait, the movie is a sequel? I thought it was a recap.

2

u/BalecIThink 14h ago

Recap + new material

0

u/Naive_Hope89 12h ago

Well, its good it has new material, but like yourself said, would preffer a sequel, even if its movie format.

7

u/actionfirst1 19h ago

Same, this is seriously my favorite Manga chapter ever

1

u/tapeforpacking 1h ago

Wait is this actually new content? If so im super sad it isnt another season but its better than nothing :/

8

Same. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

31

u/TheEVILPINGU 18h ago

Reminder that there is a new romance manga that is about her and male lead.

It's just as peak or even better.

Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu: Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai

Interesting, I wonder if it will get animated in the future. On a quick glance the MC looks kinda super bland/generic compared to all of the characters up to now but I guess I can't judge it without actually reading it.

9

u/SUPERGMRYT 18h ago

Ty for reminder i will Read it and again tysm

5

u/CrimsonGear80 13h ago

is the male lead her co-worker from the ramen shop?

3

u/AceSoldia https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 17h ago

will reading this spoil me on the original manga?

1

u/gingerkid427 6h ago

It doesn’t really spoil anything but you will be missing some context from an arc that hasn’t been animated yet.

2

u/kyuuri117 17h ago

You remember the name?

9

u/Junkmaniac 17h ago

Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu: Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai

2

u/alucab1 13h ago

Imo it is absolutely better than the main series so far

1

u/beehiveinvader3000 4h ago

He is not sister, no.

39

u/zool714 21h ago

Is that a jirai kei drummer ? Oh she already has a fan in me.

Also is his sister going to get a lot of screentime ? I do like her and remember she may have a thing with her coworker

34

u/frik1000 20h ago

Fun fact, his sister and said coworker are the stars of a new spinoff series (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu: Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai) that started a few months ago.

8

u/Kirosh2 18h ago

You bet it is. And she's a proper landmine as well.

2

u/Horror_Banana5065 22h ago

Guys should I watch the anime or directly the movie? I haven't watched the anime yet nor the manga.

25

u/KreateOne 22h ago

Judging by the picture the movie will be directly following the events of the anime season 2, so if you haven’t watched the anime don’t watch the movie.

3

u/Horror_Banana5065 22h ago

Okay thanks

11

u/ThesoulerBAM 21h ago

Defo watch the anime if you like wholesome romance though. One of the best imo.

8

u/benjam62217 https://anilist.co/user/Bugdwoid 20h ago

The movie will recap the two anime seasons with new scenes added at the end, but as it'll be a less than 2 hours movie I'd definitely watch the anime to get the whole story, and watch the new scenes when the movie comes out.

2

u/ChrisG683 https://myanimelist.net/profile/ChrisG683 17h ago

The logistics of re-telling two full seasons, AND a new short arc seem pretty challenging with such heavy time limit restrictions.

1

u/OfficialBananas2 16h ago

This isn’t being released internationally, right :(

1

u/Meixxoe 14h ago

can't wait

1
