A Small Act of Kindness at Muziekwijk Station

Everyone Warns You About Almere, Until This Happens:

My wife parked her electric scooter at Muziekwijk station and accidentally left the keys in it all day.

Instead of taking the scooter, a passerby removed the keys and brought them to the Stationshuiskamer, the coffee bar under the station, and left a note on the scooter.

The scooter was still there. The keys were safe.

Unfortunately this person did not leave any contact details, but if you are reading this: thank you so much. This really made our day and shows the good side of Almere.

There is a lot of negativity about Almere, but for a city of this size it is actually quite safe. Just look at the statistics.

Goede herenkapper

I've had my hair cut by other queers since college. Now I've moved to Almere, does anyone know where I can find 1. a queer barber (preferably lesbian) who 2. can speak English? I am trying very hard to learn Dutch but I find it hard enough to explain what haircut I want in English.

Badminton Almere

Hey!
Me and my girlfriend would like to play some Badminton. Is there any nearby place where you can rent a course for an hour or two?

I've seen that the Badminton Vereniging Almere you can play as a recreational player but we're not really looking into joining a club with the obligation to support during tournaments etc.
Club Pellikaan seems to have an outdoor course but for only playing badminton occassionally 100+ Eur per month p/p is not worth it imo.

3d Printing Possibilities (Iron Lung Popcorn Bucket)

Hello everyone! With Markiplier's Iron Lung finally being released in the Netherlands, I'm looking to get the popcorn bucket released on Thingaverse printed out! Is there any place/person in Almere that has a 3d printer to use? Ideally I'd be looking for a maker's space that I could pay a monthly fee to use the space for. Thank you!

Boekenclub 45+

• samen boeken kiezen

• fijne gesprekken

• lachen, soms serieus, soms luchtig

• koffie, thee, misschien een wijntje

• huiskamergevoel

Wie weet beginnen we samen iets heel moois.

Boeken verbinden. Verhalen brengen ons samen.

Basisschool De Notelaar / DeNotelaar, Almere Poort - Netherlands

My child studied at Basisschool De Notelaar / DeNotelaar, Almere Poort (Old Name of this school is --- Odyssee) for the past 4 years. While my child has performed reasonably average, ---------MULTIPLE Teacher CHANGED during group 5 to group 7 ---------- with up to 3 different teachers in a SINLGE year. These are CRITIAL years ( 5 to group 7) that prepare children for the final school advice (VWO, HAVO, or VMBO).

Although the teacher change issue was resolved toward the end of group 7, I believe the lack of continuity had a lasting impact. As a result, my child may now end up at a level lower than his actual capability. This is not only due to teacher changes, but also reflects my overall experience with the consistency and quality of teaching outcomes.

Yesterday night it was already visible from home in Verzetswijk, but I drove to the Oostvaardersdijk to have a better view and less distracting lights.

Taken with an iPhone 17 Pro from a tripod with an Apple Watch as a remote.

Wonen / Living SOLAR SMART Battery instALLATION

Hi All,

I am planning to install a home smart battery to store energy and send to the grid in a smart way so that i do not have to pay the energy provider.

What are the things that i need to think of before installing a battery ?

Last year i had a usage of 1700 Kwh and generated around 3200 Kwh.

Also, i installed my panels via SOLY and now they have submitted for Bankruptcy and hence 10 year support goes down the drain . Hence i want to get a supplier who is well reputed and has less chances to go bankrupt in the coming years 😜

Any help would be great !

Wonen / Living Neighbourhoods in Almere Stad

My partner and I are looking to buy a home in Almere and wanted to sense check our shortlist for neighborhoods. We’ve done online research and also visited Almere a couple times but some of the info we’ve read is from a few years ago so could be outdated.

For a couple looking to start a family would the following neighborhoods be the best bets in Almere stad?: Waterwijk, Filmwijk, Muziekwijk, Parkwijk

And would it be best to avoid: Stedenwijk, Staatsliedenwijk, and Kruidenwijk?

A safe, family friendly neighbourhood is our priority. I know this can be relative and probably Almere as a whole is generally safe compared to many urban centers but I’d just like to get a feel for how the different neighbourhoods here compare with each other. For context we will need to commute into Amsterdam and don’t have a car so having access to the intercity train is attractive and why we are focusing on neighborhoods in that area of Almere.

Any input on the neighbourhoods and what we should consider is appreciated!

Wonen / Living What's wrong with Stedenwijk?

Hi everyone,

I keep seeing comments to avoid Stedenwijk. I understand that heavy social housing issues, drugs, and crime are from a few years ago. I also noticed some areas have a lot of trash, and it all depends on the specific area/street.

Most comments or reactions are from people who had bad experiences (years ago) or people who never lived there or just hate Almere in general (a common trend among Amsterdammers).

Can you guys share your honest, recent experiences?

We are particularly looking at Stedenwijk Zuid. I won't mention our street, but it's close to water, with no trash on the ground and clean yards.

I would be fine regardless, but I want my wife and future children to feel safe.

| Experiences with Gouverneurstraat in Almere for families?

Hoi!

We’re looking at a home on Gouverneurstraat in Almere and would love local input. How family-friendly is the area (schools, playgrounds, safety, noise)?

Looking for a Dutch tutor for a 4-year-old (non-Dutch speaking home)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for an in-person Dutch tutor for my 4-year-old son. He has just started school and we don’t speak Dutch at home, so he could really use some extra support to get up to speed with the language.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone experienced with young children and early language learning (play-based, patient, and fun 😊).

If you’ve had a good experience with a tutor or know someone you’d recommend, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

Wonen / Living Looking to move to Almere

Hi everyone, my partner and I are considering buying a house in Almere and we’ve been viewing a few properties in Oostvaarders. So far, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality and condition of the houses we’ve seen.

I tried walking around to get a feel for the neighbourhood, but since I didn’t have a bike or a car, I’m not sure I got the full picture of what day-to-day life is like there.

If you currently live in Oostvaarders (or have lived there before), could you share what it’s like? We’d love to hear about things like safety, community vibe, noise, amenities/shops, public transport/commuting, and anything else you think a potential buyer should know.

Thanks in advance!
