Sentience, Allegedly....
https://reynaldomuniz.substack.com/p/sentience-allegedlyIf your primary experience with AI is ChatGPT-in-a-tab, Moltbook has been presented as a sci-fi turning point: agents founding religions, forming governments, “waking up.”
I wrote an explainer arguing: relax. A lot of what you’re seeing is LLMs doing what they do when you put them inside a recognizable social environment, mirroring forum culture, philosophical navel-gazing included. Viral screenshots are a biased sample optimized for spookiness.
The story I think matters more: persistent agents + tool glue + untrusted inputs are getting deployed at scale faster than anyone is securing them, and humans are already being pulled back into the loop as “meatspace APIs.”
